OoRP:

This Mod for Freelancer is fantastic, the developers need a pat on the back.
We brought our group here while we wait for Star Citizen to come along, we have enjoyed the new content and have tried to embrace Role Play.

This server is ruined by pointless or non existent RP, we have had many ships destroyed just because someone fancied doing it.

Few days ago we were trailed and dock raped in Coronado by some people due to an honest mistake, today we were followed by a player who would not even deal in RP discussion.

The Pirates here just shout halt or stop or normally just shoot first, Larger factions sit around harassing traders while leaving pirates to do their thing.

Since we came here certain groups have seemed to 'have it in for the new guys' while others have been helpful and offered guidance, sadly this latter is the minority. Mindless 'supposed' policing factions, mindless pirates no RP except stop or we shoot.

I for one was the driving force behind bringing our large group here and one by one they have drifted away because there is no fluid role play here, you can try but 9/10 times it is like talking to robots. Why not take your big ships out and fly around rather than sit and do, who knows what?

You spend lots of time advertising this server and mod all over the net and that is where we heard of it. You all know this server is dying and if you treat all new groups who come along in this manner then maybe it is time for Freelancer to finally be put back to bed.

We have played this game on and off for 11 years and have frequented many servers but this is by far and away the most closed and insular community we have come across so far.

As for grown men role playing women all the time, unless this server is full of ladies, is disturbing enough in itself.

we are trying to play it your way but unfortunately there isn't a single 'Your' way it seems.

Don't suppose anyone admin wise will take any notice of this but it's here if anybody is interested in reading it.

We will keep trying for as long as we can keep our guys interested.

Staying out of RP:

what we fail to understand is that we keep getting hit with the RP stick but we have encountered abuse, trolling meta gaming and all the 'must nots' of this server and there is no where to go to remedy it. As a leader of a group when I talk to a member of another group I would expect that when I [IN RP] suggest a diplomatic solution via coms channel[HERE] then I would expect true RPers to adhere to that. What right would say and LN ship have for hunting a ship down demanding fines and not entering into discussions? Just blowing a ship away while a trade window is open? and chat window?

As for turning off PC, we shouldn't have to, this is a game that is very open in its concept, that concept should be enhanced by RP not stifled by it.

I don't know maybe all the forum posts on ModDB about the community here were right and I should have listened to my colleagues when they said leave well alone. We brought, so far 12 players in to the server from a community of over 100 gradually we were converting the other guys over but now, who knows?

Should the DISCO community care, probably not as there is so much cross pollination among groups that no one knows who i who anymore anyway, we thought that an independent group may actually add something to the Server but seems you are all happy with the status Quo.

It's just a shame really

First we are not their pilots, second since when have CR| done all the talk for us?

I am not surprised. In my experience I've noticed active Indy factions tend to be hunted down and griefed until they no longer find the game fun. I would recommend playing with untagged ships and perhaps doing trade convoys if you have the manpower, I'm sure those would be fun if you're looking for RP. Generally, attempt to stay unnoticed and perhaps find some people you like to RP with and hang around their space. Liberty is generally a pretty bad place for quality RP, mostly because it has all the new players that don't know what they're doing, or just don't care. It sounds bad but that's just the reality of Disco. Don't try to point this out and have people fix it though, they'll just bury their fingers in their ears as they usually do. Trick is to avoid getting in to iRP conflicts with the same people/factions often so that you aren't always targeted by them. Good luck in escaping the toxic side!

The community's fairly closed and insular because people like to come in here thinking that since they've been playing Freelancer online since it came out that makes them better than everyone else in the community.

Oh, man, they couldn't be more wrong.
