- make up your mind what you want! - if you are annoyed by frequent raids, and you complain just enough, you ll get "buffer systems" included. that will reduce the raids - but make you a lot more lonely.
RP and interaction is often on opposite sides. - but the general idea of a mmo is to PLAY TOGETHER. so the WORST thing you can do is to block players. ( PoBs that block jumpholes ) if you accept those - you isolate yourself from other players. that is NOT the fault of the PoB - it is the fault of the player(s) building those PoBs.
they may make sense inRP - but they significantly harm playing "together" ( and together includes against each other )
- respect other ppls roleplay! - corsairs have kind of a history of - lets call it "aggressive roleplay" that more than often extended beyond simple inRP. - and was justified with "cause we can" or "deal with it"
the consequence is that those who did not want to deal with it - or felt harrassed ..... left. - apply that kind of roleplay too often - and you ll create a very natural "buffer" around yourself - while you exhume an air of repulsion around you.
again - play WITH others, not against them - "cause you can" is often not very smart, cause what YOU can ... might be too much for others - so the limits of what YOU should do is the smallest threshold of what anyone involved can take.
- be creative! - so the old corsair ways do not work anymore or do not attract new players? - maybe they are just "too old" - try out new things. - you might find yourself failing a dozen times trying out new things... but eventually you may find something new that does the trick again.
- adapt! - so piracy got harder? - you cannot solo pirate EVERYONE with a single bomber or a gunboat? - yea, that requires adjustments. - so team up with others. find no one to team up with - nither ingame directly or on the forum after trying hard? - ok, thats the time you may want to give up ( or come up with other creative ideas )
also - popularity of factions and regions is kind of seasonal. sometimes a specific faction is simply not "in" - and it is a lot harder to revive it.
in practical terms...
... buffer systems and replacement battlegrounds ( eta or now the sigmas ) were included because YOU ( corairs, outcasts ) complained so much that the devs had to put them in. you WANTED the distance between you and your enemies to be greater.
feeling a bit alone is the logical consequence of that demand. - and probably also the point of it.
also - i do remember you guys tried to make a point that outcasts and corsairs are actually not at war at all - but its more a brotherly misunderstanding with the occasional skirmish.
another cause of boredom is a consequence of a faction "that has all it needs..."
so you RPed that your food is well covered by samura and IND. - good for you
you RPed that your economy flourishes and you can deploy dozens of warships - fine
you RPed that you even have the fleet capacity to attack various random targets and that you are not at all in a military stalemate with the hessians anymore ( cause if you were, you would not divert ships to shoot - uh... lets say - zoner stations ) - and that is also fine
so - no starvation, no lack of resources, ever growing fleets and no shortage of manpower.
is there anything the corsairs ( just focussing on corsairs, cause it is a corsair thread btw. ) still do need? ( except for a world where steak grows on trees and gravy rains from the skies )
the last question is the one without any sarcasm. - it is an actual question, cause a faction that has it all - looses its momentum. the only momentum is to maintain the status quo - and that is much easier to do than to improve a situation.
Corsairs did some dumb moves like adding the PoBs. Also all these buffer systems were completely useless. Gamma raids were fun as both sides, sad that these are unlikely to happen anymore.
Also Jinx, I just noticed that you can see the bra via the shirt of that character in your signature. Lol.
No one is going to bother with broken factions, really. Game is about being a game not about working hard to get doubtful result. That's why piracy is dead for most - teaming up, hunting for traders, etc - those processes are too boring. Especially a teaming up process. Game that REQUIRE you to FIND a teammates first BEFORE you can do anything is bound to crumble down the stairs. It's simple: You wanna play FL, no one around to team up with -> you don't even log in. It's simple logic. Why bombers need to team up to blow some civilian transports - it's beyond me in fact. But it's a whole different story which was told 9999(9) times with zero result - not bothering again.
