Bombers just arent good enough anymore, it hard to destroy even GB, and almost impossible to take down destroyer or cruiser, unless there are 2 or 3 bombers, so i remmembered my history lesson and i think it would be great to have torpedo boats in game.

This is what i thought about them:

2 torp + 1 CD slot
40 000 to 50 000 hull
Transport shields, up to 50k shield
6 guns, 2 lvl9 and 4 lvl10 or 4 GB turrets
Size- 2 or 3 times bigger then bomber, little bigger then barghest
manuverability - 2/3 of bombers, something like gunships
120 000 power supply + 6 000 recharge rate.
Price 15-25 million
Thruster speed - 160

Do you think this would fit in Discovery?

i have posted a similar idea for a few months

when i first sah the barghest, i thought it would perfectly fit as a torpedo boat. (with more armor, and slower)

and i like the idea:)

Got to say I think you're the only person on Disco who think bombers aren't good enough, yes it takes two or three bmbers to take out a full on capship nad it should. One lone bomber is a fat slow fighter, two bombers are a pain in the backside, and three are downright dangerous.

I'd say that this class of ship isn't needed, bombers are good in packs, as they should be. Historically you should know that bombers always travelled with support...

Del is right...

This would annihilate the point in capital ships, as they would not only get swarmed, but they'd also get destroyed by what would effectively be 'super gunboats'.

A balance issue or four, no?

just need a slight tweak to the balance of a few of the bombers... then it will be fine.

Well, we cant always have support, and this bout would not cause unballance, since they would be 2 or 3x bigger, 2 times slower and would make 2 times more damage.

You can't always have support... but swarms are battleships' weakness, not individual ships. Best keep it that way instead of breaking game balance.

tic, one question can you imagine what can make ship with that wtatus armed with 2xtizonas, 4x coladas and 2 uspernova canons with train cd?
( it can make 2x800 +4x1080 x4 shield damage per second that is 23 000. + 2 supernovas. what can survive this? )

and 120 000 power suply is enought strong to fire from 2sn in the same time. so shield on everything is down in 20 seconds and hul in another 30 seconds.
size like gunship but then will be that ship much stronger as gunship. because gb shield is down in 8 seconds and hull in one shoot from sn.

the same for cruiser and for bs. so in the end you have ship that can kill everythign and is small and agile.

and traders can be killed much faster.
so i think bombers are now good as they are. one very good bomber pilot can kill gb. and 2 bobmers can kill gb easy.

You proposed a super anti-fighter weapon for BS's then..

Took a bomber to try the other side? I'm glad.
But they are fine. Especially in pairs.
2 bombers can take on several capital ships... In the same battle..
For example, 3 OC destroyers stand no chance against 2 skilled bomber pilots.

Barghest should be able to fire 2 supernovas, and it should have freighter shield..

But 50k armor? GB shield? 4 GB turrets?
You'r making a superweapon again..

For example, if it was me who proposed a Torpedo boat, I'd say..

2 Torpedo slots..
Energy to fire 2 SN
Size of a Spatial
25-30k armor
150 bots/bats
Freighter shield
Not a single gun. 0. Nada. Zero.
Barghest's agility.

I agree Chopper... that would be much more interesting (the original post is for a ship that is just TOO good) but on your proposal Outcast aligned ones that could have an inferno would have a huge advantage...

A civi inferno like weapon? Maybe not!
