It's been a long time now, but I used to work for Satan for years selling tickets in one of the phone centers. Some of the basics never change, so first off, know what "find best seats" actually means: People tend to believe that when an event goes on sale, the entire venue goes on sale when the clock strikes 10...nope. Not true. In most cases for big shows, only an allotment of tix are released. When you "find best seats" or "closest available seats" the system searches only the allotment available at that time starting from stage left front and works its way around until nosebleeds.
For that reason, we weren't allowed to say an event was "sold out" (even though gigantic stadiums can sell out in less than 5 minutes) instead, we were told to say "There are no more tickets available" That way, when the next allotment of tix were released & a radio announcement was made, there was another swell of "best available" puchases like an effin' gold rush because people assumed the show was sold out
In my day, the absolute best seats (generally center stage) were released on the day of the event or a few days prior.
Hate to tell ya, but presales are strictly for suckers. In my experience, people who buy during presales generally fall into a couple categories: excited fans that want to ensure they get seats before the event "sells out" & people under the impression that "earlier means better"
On occasion when I had somebody cool on the phone that wasn't cussing me out or hoping I die in a car crash on the way home for not selling 'em their dream seats, the advice I'd give 'em is to get a map of the venue, study it, and then check back every couple of days for new releases. I'd get specific & tell 'em "Screw that best available bs" & instruct them to check manually for availability for specific seats every 2-3 days.
It's a headache, yeah...but that's how the 'good seats' were snagged.
I wouldn't go so far as to call TM Satan, but they definitely don't give a rats ass if a person likes the seats or not. They only care if the tickets are purchased.
