It had a 33.33 refire rate, at 100 damage each. Moved like a CD, but a bit slower, and used no ammo.
Have you ever seen Macross (aka, Robotech, in the USA)? When the Valkyries fired their missiles, that's how the swarm looked like.
The problem with those were that the wep was unbalanced, and required no skill to be used. So, a n00b with a Starflier and 3 of those could defeat anything short of a battleship with them. Also, the huge amount of missiles fired by a single ship used to cause a lot of lag. Do you imagine a 20v20, all firing the swarm? The server would lag to death. Also, they had the missile immunity problem, so sometimes you could fire 500 of those to an enemy ship and do no damage.
It was nerfed, with a lower refire and a higher power usage, but it was still a n00b cannon. People complained, and the thing got "removed" from the mod, by making it harmless and un-buyable.
I think I still have one mounted on my [Korrd]TestChar ship. Its useful as an ECM device against battleships.

The purple godess was 33.33 too. All chainguns and the swarm were introduced at the same time. The swarm was the projectile version of the energy chainguns.

Yeah, that would be cool. Although there IS the lag problem. I just wish we could live in a lag-free world. Then we could all be happy and get along and fire huge swarms of missiles at each other.:D
heh, I remember when the chainguns fired that fast, but now? Their damage to refire rate ratio sucks, big time. They are due for a massive overhaul, because nobody who's an ace pilot uses them anymore. Sure, the fact that they have high refire rates is good, but whats the point? The Purple Goddess chainguns probably do as much damage as, say, a class 7 weapon? And it sucks up energy like nobodies business. Thats my opinion/rant about chainguns..
