As I sit down to write this guide, it is intended not as a way of how a pilot should conduct himself when flying in the field, but more an ideal, the perfect way in which one should conduct himself in situation where they can best glorify themselves in the eyes of Die Gottekanzler, bless his holy name. My main feature of this artical shall not be with common enemies of the traitorus hessians, the heathonous Bundschuch, nor the Rebelious Unioners. My topic, is the Phantoms. In the eyes of the average pilot, the Phantoms are more of a myth then physical beings. That is, until they meet one. I have not known many pilots to survive a Phantom attack, but there always the one recruit who knows his salt and can kill one of the Phantoms grunts. These most often turn out to become Commanders, Captains, and even Admirals.

When fighting against the Phantoms, it is not as easy as fight, say, a Hessian. The Hessian use craft taken from their distant allies, and are usually quite frail, with construction that lacks the brute strenght and efficiency of the Rheinland vessels. The Hessians fight like we do, as humans. Point and shoot and your target dies. The Phantoms do not operate like this. They have strategies that revolve around the use of powerful, other worldy magics. I advise the pilots when fighting the Phantoms to never simply shoot at where the target appears to be. This is an illusion. Shoot at the point where you will become weakest if you had done a normal manouver. As an example, if I was piloting The Kormoran agaisnt two Phantom ships, and I was targeting the first, I would never fly forward and shoot at what looks like a ship. They expect this. Spinning my ship a quick 90 degrees puts me in a place where the hostile will be after he has made a strafing run, but now my guns are aiming and the heathen has to make a new manouver, leaving him open for attack. This works best when you have allies supporting you. Make sure each enemy is occupied by at least 1 friendly. A tip, keep the writings of the KDGA close to you, as well as any Holy relics that you personally own. The Phantoms magic's can be reduced by the all-encompassing light of Die Gottekanlzer. Do his work and he will reward you ten-fold.

My second main point of this essay, is not simply about getting into a fight and winning. Winning against demons such as these is not a task that can be done on a sunday stroll on Berlin. There is very little chance that a civillian would be capable at doing things mentioned in the Rheinland Militaries Standard Pilots handbook. As we know, the Phantoms only survive because of the humans they collect and convert into their Blasphemous forms. They do this by striking at military and civillian targets, and keeping the captured humans. Upon my knowledge of this, I find that the most simple tactic is the best one. Deny the Phantoms of any target they may have. What would a Phantom raid be, if there was nothing to destroy? Entering the Orbits of ANY Rheinland planet is out of their minds, for simply getting within range of New Berlin, Stuttgart, or any Populated planet, results in the activation of the Planetary defence systems, which, to this day, have a 100% succes rate of shooting down hostiles trying to land un-authorised on the Planet. The Heathens tend to stay around the tradelanes, especially the ones between Bonn, Dortmund, and the Border station. from here, they have access points from the Supposed Junker, and Hessian bases. If a civillian has even the SLIGHTEST hint that there may be Phantoms in the area, report to the nearest planet and removed yourself from the Phantoms line of attack. For the military officers, you should follow a different strategy. It is your Job to defend die Gottekanzlers sujects from harm. but you cannot do this if you dead. If you hear of Phantom invasion in your system, find them and lead them away form the populated areas. The Phantoms like to attack En-Mass, so it is critical that you have a larger fleet then them. Get them in range of the closest Rheinland Imperial Navy battlegroup and use the covering fire from your firendly vessel to keep them on their guard and then attempt to attack. If this fails, leave. Deny them of their only remaining resource. They will have nothing else to turn to if you and your companions leave the area. But whatever you do, DO NOT let you ship get destroyed, even if this means running. In the upper echelons of the commander structure, we can it a Tactical Withdrawl, and that is simply what it is, getting out of there, so your enemy becomes weaker.

As I draw this first essay to a close, I leave you only with a few notes. The Phantoms main souce of power, is the Humans they enslave, and that means they want you, and the rest of the Rheinland People. Prevent them from making any kills, and you have won, regarless if you must retreat.

Through Rheinland you find Glory, through glory you find Salvation, through slavation, you find Eternity.
