So I have been looking at Bretonia where the majority of my characters are based. Bretonia lies very close to my heart as in it's my favourite house in Disco. Anyway, one thing I noticed is that there isn't much piracy there. Of course the odd pirate and when the Mollys log there is, however in general there isn't much. For the traders this is a good thing for them really but the activity triangle doesn't agree with having no pirates in it. The BAF| haven't logged much in the past month. Who knows it might be because we can't be bothered or people have stuff to do in real life which is fair enough. I think it's more of the fact that there isn't enough unlawful stuff going on there, bearing in mind that's my opinion and I'm sure you lot have your own idea.

So the faction I've been thinking about for the past week or so, I'll just paste a small extract about the history so you can get the jist of what is happening.

'The day that the Gallic War Machine landed on Planet Leeds, the people took up any tools they could find to defend themselves from the onslaught that would be sure to engulf them. Bretonian Marines did their best but they were utterly unprepared for what the Gallic had in store for them, ‘Obstinate’ Cruisers in orbit with leeds targeted the military bases, wiping them off of the face of the planet.

The people of Leeds were picked up from space ports which were defended heavily by the Bretonian military; escorted liners and Merchant Navy vessels took the people to Planet Sprague and Cambridge. The sudden demand of new homes for the people was a problem, only a certain amount of people could get homes. The Bretonian Government explained that they would get homes soon enough. This wasn't going to happen, they lied and the money was put towards the hopeless war effort. The angered homeless people started talking to each other about their lives back on Leeds. They wanted that life back understandably. But what would they do to get it?'

So nicknamed the 'Leeds Looters' it's the classic steal from the rich give to the poor scenario. I feel that this faction can offer some different roleplay from what people in Bretonia are used to.

What do you think about the idea? Don't ask about zoi etc. You'll see that in the info page.
(Please don't give me too much abuse Big Grin )

Personally - i recall one such faction existed in the past, although i may be mistaking. Either way, the idea sounds good and if properly put in place, it can work very well, especially as a role-play based faction. What i'm concerned about is the ID you'll be using - a lawful or unlawful one? Stealing involves pirating, most of the time, so that'd make you pirates... but which might also limit some of your RP possibilities.

Unless they used Gallic Junker ID...which would then be Privateer-ish acting in Bretonia...since that is apparently their role. Tongue

Thanks, concerning the ID, the only one I can see fitting is a Pirate ID. If we make official and I can get 7-8 dedicated members that help me then I suppose we can work out our own ID. That's the future, obviously and I'm not saying this is even going to work. We'll see though Big Grin

Edit: Effectively we are pirates. Just homeless ones..

You say these people want to get their lives back on Leeds. But going pirate, they will alienate themselves from the Bretonian Government, and in Leeds, they will get into a pinch between Gallics and Bretonia, both shooting them, neither helping them. The generic pirate ID is looked down by other pirate factions, too, so they'd not get much help from them either.
Also, the Pirate ID would make you hostile to both docking points on Leeds, basically cutting your access to the planet, which is quite against the story you just drew up.

I think this idea would work out better with the Privateer ID, mainly targeting the Galics in the occupied systems (being the Gallics the primary reason for loosing their homes), and shipping supplies to the Bret side of Leeds (taking the action into your own hands rather waiting for the government to move).
You still can play that you are on the bad side of the government by smuggling illegal supplies (weapons, black market munitions) to Leeds, and call the BAF/BPA incompetent and powerless if you get caught, and have nice inRP arguments about it.

The people don't want to be ruled by the Bretonian Government because they were lied to and betrayed. So now they are taking revenge on them by pirating and causing general havoc. As for the Royal Navy, they are equally hated, this means that when the Looters are involved in a battle between the GRN and BAF, both sides don't know who they will fight for only to find that they will be shot at as well after one side has been eliminated.

Docking on Leeds, I don't know if it's possible (allowed in the rules) but I thought of using the privateer ID to dock on the planet and then go from there. Remembering these will be transports. I really don't want to use the Privateer ID it doesn't fit the story.

As far as I know, you cannot use two different IDs for one faction (dock on Leeds with Privateer, and pirate with Pirate). If you choose pirate ID, you surely won't be able to dock on Planet Leeds, and even in Leeds system, as there are no unlawful bases there. So you'll have to make a chioce between docking on Leeds and "bending" a bit for Bretonians.

I don't really know how Privateers work (could someone provide input on this, pease), but they are pirates who are allowed to pirate with some restrictions. I don't know how much they have to be "good boys" and "serve" Bretonia, but they are pirates in the first place. You should ask the QCP faction about this. I see you know them already.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I really don't want this faction to be on meh terms with the Bretonian Lawfuls since they are the ones they are angry with.
