Should Liners be able to mount GB turrets like the Salvager and Raba?

Lets Discuss

Liners are too large for GB weapon range.

EDIT: For these weapons to be used effectively*
EDIT: 2 I'd rather they mount cruiser light weapons in a limited amount. 4 cruiser slots, 4 GB slots and a custom powerplant.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

Yes i do agree with you but cruiser weapons is a bit overkill don't you think? Maybe have a separate weapon class for liners, same damage as gb/transports but longer reach.

liners had GB turrets - and they were removed due to concerned player demands.

while liners were probably not the problem those players made them out to be - they kind of overshadowed other comparable transports, because they simply offered "more" than most transports. - but of course that was the time when they could mount GB missiles and fire them at snubs with acceptable accuracy and no ammo limit.

Would it be possible to have a different weapon class for liners?

huge hull yes. But the range of the transport turrets is too less to defend it properly. the 86 version of transport turrents were more acceptable in the range to defend liners

reasonable or not - hard to say

liners ( lux and prison liner ) have extremely good shapes ... they are long and needle thin. - they can actually dodge SNAC fire fairly well - but succumb to novas of course. they have fairly good hitpoints and cargo capacity making them a good choice for an actual trader.

personally i feel that exclusive weaponry that is a step upwards from transport weaponry ( which is not bad ) is only realy justified when they had restrictions on cargotypes. since that is hard to do without resorting to restrictions via sanctions - i don t really see it coming.

to hardcode a cargo restriction would require altering the trade routes though. - so a lot of work for very little gain.

Hmm interesting points there. Could it be made just like the salvager(gb turrets and powercore)and nerf its agility ?
