Short said, I am intending to take another run in those two games. Considering these two are rather popular ones, I guess

Skyrim

Essentially I want to attempt more pacifist thief-illusionist character. Considering Skyrim is all about entering cave and leaving only after there's nothing left alive, I can already foresee difficulties in getting through tutorial with character's mindset. If you know some mods (prefferably on Steamworks) that introduce some lore-friendly armor and some enhancing of stealth gameplay, I'd like to take a look on them.

M&B Warband

I never been able to progress past that point when I sit with 2-3 castles, moderate army of calvary and elite infrantry, getting excesively annoyed by my sole lord I recruited to take charge of another castle. It entirely feels as if he replaced his intelligence for potato or joined up only to backstab me at some point.

Reading up stories when other players effectively took control of entire maps, I want to attempt GoT mod that introduces Westeros and various factios of it. Wondering whether such players are here and how they actually managed to amass such kind of assets.

It's pretty boring being a thief to be honest 'cause you can perk up your sneak skill to the point where you can crouch in front of someone and they won't see you. I guess training up to that point is cool though. Illusionist magic (and magic in Skyrim on the whole) is pretty pointless. Looks pretty but just requires pointing and clicking.

Haven't played Warbad but I would like to so I may give it a look.

For Skyrim;

Immersive Armours mod - I know that's not a Steamworks link, but it's a really nice mod; I'm using it at the moment.

Alternate Start mod - if you don't like the tutorial/intro. I haven't used it myself, but it's a very popular mod.

There was a sig here, once.

Onca's TES Rule #24: Playing a thief always devolves into bow-sniping. All those poor unsuspecting suckers, just too tempting.

Oh well good luck with it Wink As for game guides, nothing beats this site if you haven't seen it already. Especially if you want to go down the path of enchanting your own uber-equipment.

I use a lot of mods. I'd advice "Skyrim Redone" which adds a whole bunch of stuff, including perks and gameplay stuff like better / more difficult sneaking and "Alternate start" if you are tired of running through the same opening over and over again. There's also a mod to get rid of the "eye" when sneaking, making things quite a lot more challenging.

Illusionist magic is also amazing, like it was in all other TES games (sorry Luke, but it really is). The Fury/Calm/Fear stuff can be used to make enemies kill each other while you hide, you can pacify an enemy that discovered you or you can make him run away in fear. Especially if you install "Skyrim Redone" you will have perks that augment illusion magic in nice and lore-friendly ways, plus a wide variety of new spells with other effects than fury/calm/fear. Vanilla Skyrim is really limited in terms of spells, far more than previous TES games.

Mind you, there are some combinations that are hugely unbalanced when using "Skyrim Redone" - for example argonian mages with the histskin power and atronach birthsign, that allows you to regenerate magicka at a normal level, while still having 50 percent spell absorption and 150 extra points of magicka from the start.
