Under ubuntu use /gksu nautilus... But as far as I know, you have to burn your USB instead of copy files, which is done by WinToFlash tool (under windows), means you have to borrow someone's PC for half an hour.

You may have to go the library and use a PC there, or if all else fails, take it to a "professional" and have him do it, and charge you a nominal fee.

EDIT: Also, I recommend Rufus for making bootable USB's, it's what I've used, it's fast and simple, works well, no need to install.

considering you have a working Ubuntu 10 on your laptop.....you can find many apps to make USB bootable using WIN7 ISO..trust Google..
