Extremely fun game that is easily to get lost in. Spent around 15 hours on it so far and barely touched the story, the Nemesis system is just too damn fun to play with.

I got it, and was really, really disappointed by it. It's my own fault, I had expected an open world akin to Skyrim, but rather it's a tiny map cluttered with random Orcs, Orcs, Orcs and more Orcs. No real roaming or free exploring as the game constantly wants to shove action down your throat.

Gameplay is a hybrid between AC (with poorer level design) and Batman - ie. watch out for the 'Block' marker and right-click, otherwise left-click, left-click, left-click until everything is dead. Animations are pretty good though, it looks really action-packed and you feel like a bad-ass when you forget that all you are really doing is more or less the same as in Diablo. Click, click, click. There are quick time events too...

The story is pretty poor, and the setting is non-canonical, meaning it might as well have been set in any other fantasy universe. Graphics are decent but nothing spectacular.

Stealth mechanics are really terrible as well. It seems like your enemies solely rely on sight, and can only see a few meters ahead of them, while giving you a warning marker so you can slip out of sight even if you were standing pretty much right in front of an Orc.

4/10

It's a pretty solid game that I finished yesterday. Heh.

The Nemesis system is - in my opinion - by far the best feature the game has to offer. The way your main enemies seem to have some actual personality to them is very well done.

Combat is "AC done right". Instead of having to rely solely on blocking, it's actually a pretty well done combat system if you ask me. Especially as more enemies are introduced and you can't get away with just right-clicking every once in a while, with enemies using ranged attacks (that hurt a lot, if they're Hunters' spears), enemies that block you if you attack them and enemies that need to be jumped over.

Initially, combat is trivial, but in the mid-game where you're not spamming finishers yet, it's quite a bit more difficult (and fun).

It's not usually 'my' genre, but I had a very good time with Shadow of Mordor.

Quick question, anyone figure out the chance of an Uruk Captain coming back scarred/burnt/whatever? I've beaten the game and I'm trying to figure out the different things they can say/look like after encounters with Talion. I've burnt them, shot them in the face, basically everything I can without removing their head to the point I rarely kill them. But even trying every precaution to keep them alive they either have no change if they lived, or if they "died" without removing the head, their actually dead and a new Captain takes their place. It's a bit frustrating to keep having to hunt down new Captains to experiment on.
