I've been using windows 7 32bit for awhile now and its time to move to a 64bit one due to requirements of software I use (and upcoming games of course). Question is should I move to Windows 8.1 or just use Windows 7 64bit. I will still play disco so any issues with running disco on either one?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Can't say I know anything about 8.1, I've heard good and bad things about it.

Currently using 7 64-bit, can't go wrong with it, if I'm honest. Stable platform.

If you're willing to downgrade use Windows XP. XD

But yeah, I use Windows Ultimate to get things done.

I use 8.1, no problems with disco, but the OS itself is quite annoying IMO, unless you have a touchscreen, with a "new and improved" Changed and ruined start menu. stick with 7, 8.1 takes a bit to get used to

Yes, definitely 7 - 64 bit.

Windows 8 was designed for phones and tablets, and then horribly ported over to PC's as an OS. It has conflicts with every other bit of software out there.

Yech.

Windows 8.1 is best available choice, it's faster than Win7.

Picking Windows 7 for visual design is pure folly. From the point you log on there is a total of five minutes in which you have to interact with the Metro design in order to open your Browser and download Start8 to change your UI back to Windows 7 standard. Picking an outdated operating system is simply sacrificing technical improvements because of an interface which is simply removed.

A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.

Im not really interested what UI is used, just want a stable platform for 64 bit software. I do a lot of video editing and will be doing some rendering and some animating. and to some extent would like to play some 64bit only games.
