The vortex of lights played over the ambient back ground behind the captains chair, he was in the observation part of the bridge. The ship trembled with the turbulence that the jump hole installed while it was in use. Very bright and white light laminated the observation deck, from the dull waves of light that had washed over the vessel to the now eye straining white nebula that clung to this section of space. Tau-37. The Anubis’s engines had stalled for a moment as checks were made to ensure that all systems were still completely operational, everything was promising and thus the Engine fired up a stream of amber fire flared up from the ships exhaust which propelled the vessel on impulse. Vaelin reached over to activate the engines’ cruise. He enjoyed flying the massive tub despite what some might class as sluggish, he felt some peace when moving the ship that he considered his home. With the energy ramping up and finally igniting, the Osiris propelled itself at a speed that most Transports, ships half the osiris’ size, would cruise at. The ship would weave its way through the mobile asteroids. As he broke through the nebula’s embrace some of the matter would follow with him as it would float out aimlessly, the partials stripping away from the hull. What came into view was the sight of a cluster of gathered asteroids with a metallic structure in its center. Freeport 10.

“Freeport Ten, this is Vaelin captain of the Anubis that should be entering your scanner range momentarily – sending through the data packet on our stance and intentions..” Vaelin moved toward the communications console, he didn’t need to but he had opted to do less convenient things for the mere reason to have physical things to do. He brought up his reputation with the Zoners and the intentions he had on approaching the station.

“This is Freeport Ten traffic control – we have you on our scanners, please hold a moment while we review the received transmission.” The voice of the crew member broke away and they went over the files. “Your requests have been approved – please proceed to mooring point four.”

“Rodger that, moving in position.” Vaelin moved back to the Captains chair and navigated the ship into position, a mooring point extended from the ship to the station and when secured, several automated crew assumed guard positions. These Automated personifications were controlled by one of the ships AI’s. Gun turrets descended from the roof to discourage any people from getting any ideas of becoming the ships stowaway. “Mooring sequence completed, sending through droids to transfer cargo.”

“Acknowledged, Traffic control out.”

Vaelin turned the controls over the AI unit, he trusted the constructs that were with him for it was the heart of the ship and the two at least had an understanding between each other, and Vaelin would give it purpose beyond self anointed tasks, it had currently lacked the ability of thinking of future things. Vaelin for the most part would now wait for his guest to arrive. He shrugged on the trench coat that contained temperature conditioning which helped to keep his temperature down as his hypothalamus which controlled body heat had been screwed up due to some attempts at biological alterations. He did not dismount his weapons belt instead keeping it on. He entered the elevator which would take him to the public quarters of the ship, the quarter that was intended to be a safe haven for those he intended to provide with sanctuary; so far it lacked any signs of life. He passed into the second elevator which was less secured then the one he had entered and progressed down to the hangers, he would wait in the engineering bay, tinkering with the various parts from used or new equipment. It was here he would wait for his guest.

Stepping from the shadows a helmeted figure wearing a simple dark grey cloak with a silver circle clasping it together.

A flightsuit that was pressured because the voice came from the internal auditory system. SLightly altered because of the analog nature of it.. or the magnetics and interference in this section of the freeport.

"I knew a man named Vaelin, long ago... the name is one you do not see anymore. People and things tend to take on their names spirit. Dont you think?"

If Vaelin was surprised by the mans sudden appearance he did not show it, he regarded the new figure with a lofted a brow and inclined his head. "Dependant on the person, I have yet to come across a name that I feel any sentimental connection to." His eyes glanced over the mans appearance from head to toe. "I would take it that you are Thomas, the one that Saturnia spoke of - I have been here for a little while and encountered some cross members, I do believe I annoyed one of them quite thoroughly."

"Everyone has responsibilities, The cross in their ascension to power makes them less playful than us fringe types." He gestured along as the figure headed to the docking bays.

"At least with me all of Maltas doors wont be shut... The osiris is a vessel that many enemies of malta have used for generations... So any attentions will be here on the freeport."

After a moments hesitation Vaelin would follow after Thomas, or who he assumed was Thomas, he was inherently alert due to the nature of the man and it was quite apparent Vaelin trusted little to no one. "I found that the cross member provided quite a bit of amusement - Understandable that is, the Osiris has always been a fearsome weapon, the corsairs utilized them more then they did their legates, though I hold less love for the Corsairs then most outcasts probably do."

For a time there was nothing said, moving down halls and passers by there were a few other figures at the freeport in the same robes without helmets seemingly there waiting next to a vary plain and simple looking Dromedary BW transport. No insignia was on the ship but the robed figures now three were about to board the ship.

"My Rapier is a mess. So this is... I suppose what you'd call the church bus. Nothing extraordinary which is precisely what we will need to land at rancho viejo without the navy feeling a need to interrogate."

The other two figure disappeared inside via the freight entrance.

"Last chance to run away screaming."

Vaelin trailed the man to the vessel his eyes peered over the few people who were identically dressed, he paused for a moment in consideration and looked towards who her presumed was Thomas. He observed him from head to toe once again not that he had any prior knowledge of who Thomas was. “Well enough I presume – as for running and screaming, I am not really that type of person – If I might ask, who are you before we continue on this endeavor.”

He was on the ramp of the dromedary removed his helmets faceplate to reveal a not vary human face. Vary reptilian looking but..not.. His eyes glowed a pale orange.

"My name is Thomas Aquinas I am the master teacher of the Cult of Sirius. High Exarch of the Oracles. There is one other we hold in greater esteem but you've met her. There are no secrets between us."

He sat down on a bench inside. removing some parts of the flightsuit that no longer needed now he wasn't in public.

"Cant scare the straights... Zoners are tolerant but.. not this tolerant." poking a thumb at his face.

Vaelin was quite surprised by the appearance of Thomas, the lofting of both of his eyebrows served as a distinct indication to this. His eyes focused on the details of the reptilian face but lacked any words in relation toward it, nor toward the fact of his orange glowing eyes. “Just Vaelin myself, Ex-Alotta-things and Freelancer, I have met that one but it wasn’t that much of a meeting to be honest.”

He moved to sit next to Thomas showing any lack of discrimination others might and he looked toward the other two figures assessing their equipment and looks. “Humans are hardly tolerant of their own race let alone whatever you might be, no offense meant.”

Thomas reached a nest of switches and buttons on his left signaling that everyone was aboard and ready as far as he knew. The rear cargo ramp started to raise and the inner doors started to cycle close.

Looking over and scooting into the seat. he brushes his little flecks of hair out of bedhead mode.
"I dont have a name for what I am... I came out of death like this. Ones appearance has more to do with what principals and things they emulate.. Also.. the virtue of the process cardamine has had on this transformation I can only guess is suppressing my ability to have a normal nose..."
His expression was reminiscent.
"I was like anyone born from the Hispania. Father was the master teacher but a childhood was a typical one... To me. Theres a strange dicotomy on Malta were the parents are somewhat over protective of thier children yet the Nation exspects us all to be hyper patriotic and proud of our line. The reality is.. were lepers from humanity and I am even further so because whatever gifts cardamine has imposed on my body image... it has provided us and the other children of the light with clarity.. At least enough to better ourselves and not be completely outcast amongst Malta."
he laughed
"I remember when jameson was the de facto ruler in name of the 101st and of malta practically.. he sent these oversized.. "agents" in armored suits to the pyramid probably to tell us not to spread the faith or speak as if we had any relation to the spirits. Which back then was almost true. The agents took their helmets off and became members.
Vealin was one of them.. Well his full name was Valentine.. But he died.. during a Corsair ambush we lost our first Emissary then too...
But we always seem to have a ship or enough to get passed these setbacks... new friends, new allies, and the light is close at hand now.. Those curiosity seekers and sometimes at market they ask me "how are the spirits?" something that wouldn't have happened ten years ago."
