I'm not a bad shot, and chainguns are REALLY easy to aim with (you have a nigh on constant tracer) but they just don't do enough damage to be worthwhile in my opinion. I would like to see them tear through hull like no tomorrow, but do very little shield damage at all, maybe about 10 per shot. that way they would be useful when coupled with shield busting weapons.
The issue with this is they might end up being superweapons, but I would like them to be actualy effective rather than just a nice little lightshow.
' Wrote:Hmm.. The lag problem it tends to cause could be solved by decreasing its lucridious fire rate.. But that would open another negotiation book..
Well if you decrease the fire rate... you get 8.33
You see 2.00 or 4.00 is huge difference, 5.88 or 8.33 is almost no difference... 8.33 or some 12 would not make any difference.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
actually - it could be possible to decrease the firerate to 8.33 - while still calling them chainguns.
one could change the projectile to something that looks like its a stream of bolts, rather than one single bolt and give it an appropriate sound. - in the end, - its mostly about perception. - no one will really be able to SEE a real difference from a 8.33 / second and a 12 / second firerate.
but i haven t seen much lag cause of the guns lately. - transports are not equipped with PG anymore, but usually with transport turrets. - and the gun itself isn t used as a primary gun on most ships.
but then, i hardly ever had lag back then, when containertransports with 12 turrets shot at 33.33 each.
I prefer the 4.83 version of Bluebell, since it was pretty much a Lazer at 33.33 rate, but in 5.84 it was toned down to 16.87 or somethin' like that, which made them do less damage I would have liked, purple goddess, is like a class 10, right?
so, it does about as much as DIAMONDBACK, or ARCHANGEL, right? i mean, one battle razer shot, and say good bye to life, but what is the point of an extra chain gun, to tell you the truth I like the concept, but it is annoying how it leeches so much energy, and you have to be precise with each shot, or else it was a waste of energy,
so I just avoid them, become a merchant, get me a battleship, like the zoner juggarnaut, and attack with weapons like the order and Corsair capital ship guns (heavy mortar, battle Razor)

Just like the Vengeance gun that Juni has, next question...
