This idea hit me out of curiousity and boredom, mostly boredom, so I wanted to hear what the rest of you think.

So the question is: How would you like to see the future of our race playing out and what would to you be the most likely scenario? I've put forward some versions of our future from some well known sci-fi franchises, so pick one and explain your choise....You can also add some I left out.... So the options are:
1) Star Trek Universe
2) Star Wars Universe- though technically not involving Earth it is freakin' Star Wars after all...
3) Terminator Universe
4) Mass Effect Universe
5) Halo Universe
6) Freelancer Universe
7) Your own choice...

Ooh.. That's a hard one.
Realistically though, I don't think our future will be that bright. While it's a little hard to tell right now, i'm unsure if we'll ever get to the period where we can travel out of our own planet. The worst that is lined up for us right now is both overpopulation, and the use of all the Earths resources.

Although if I had to dream? Stargate Universe. Awwyeaah.

7) Dir for Supreme Leader of the Universe.
All money would be diverted from war/defense budgets into NASA and we will conquer the Solar System in 10 years np

In all seriousness though, a combo of the Federation from Star Trek (their overall views politically) with a splash of Star Wars would be great

Freelancer would actually be a neat universe.

But, what would be "fun"? 7) Half-Life Universe

We'd need a power source strong enough to warp the fabric of space itself (think warp drives, black holes, antimatter)to build ships that could mine asteroids for metals & water. Huge stations would be needed to construct ships large enough to hold enough people & resources to establish colonies. We'll either have to cryogenically suspend ourselves or have communities who'll have children, schools etc on board. A third option would be to freeze embrios and have a select few thaw and grow them as needed - this would solve problem of the limited space on board. Artificial gravity is a must since the human body does wierd things in zero gravity environments. We have about 5 billion years before the sun burns up its hydrogen fuel and turns into an expanding red giant but in 1.1 billion years the sun will be so bright & energetic that it will vapourise the water on earth. This is ultimately just delaying the inevitable as there will be a point in the future where everything is just too far apart with space expanding & the universe returning to a state of entropy. Let's hope the multiverse theory is correct and we can find a way to travel to another universe.
