The plans were all in place.

They said it was impossible to do, especially after the theft of the Osiris. But that made it all the more exciting. A small group of us, mainly Liberty defectors and Order spies, were able to infiltrate the "impenetrable" Baltimore Shipyards - right in the centre of Liberty space! Here, we were able to take up various positions through the workforce - some of us were labourers, while others were project managers. It took many months, but we were able to become embedded in the inner workings of the shipyard, and with that the first phase of the plan was complete.

The next phase called for an order to be placed by a high ranking Liberty Admiral for a couple of Assault Cruisers. While we did have some sympathizers at this level of the brass, we did not want to compromise them, so we initiated a series of raids into Liberty space which concentrated on destroying Cruisers. Then, we used mid level operatives to convince the Liberty brass that they needed more capital ships to replace the ones lost. Thus, we were able to get an order placed for Assault Cruisers.

Using our operatives at Baltimore Shipyard, we assigned the construction detail to those loyal to the Order's cause. With our operatives building the ships, we were able to sabotage the Command Override Control that the Liberty Navy installs on all its ships in case "unauthorized" personal take the ship over. In addition to this, we tinkered with the Allied Targeting and Positioning System (the system that gives our position, along with any hostile/neutral/friendly targets, to all Liberty Navy ships in the system) to broadcast a false position, along with false readings on enemy forces to all Navy ships. Along with a series of other "changes", the ships were now much easier to steal.

So far, everything was falling into place nicely. However, after the Cruisers were completed and being prepared for "pick up", something went wrong. Someone at the LSF got wind of our little operation, and decided to investigate. Not wanting all the time and resources (not to mention personal involved) to go to waste, we immediately dispatched a contingent to pick up the ships. I was part of that contingent.

While on a joint operation with our Corsair allies in the Omicrons, I was ordered to drop everything and make for New York with all haste. I did just that, and was the first to arrive on scene. When I got there, I found that the Shipyard was being blockaded by Liberty forces. Managing to slip through the blockade, I landed fearing it was only a matter of time before our forces were over run at Baltimore. When I landed, it was to my surprise (and glee) that everything was running amok. Our operatives, seeing that they had to cause some distractions to get away, sabotaged the production facility and the communications. This caused mass panic, for the Liberty forces on the Shipyard did not know that we were even stealing the ships! Fast thinking on our part.

After the rest of the evacuation contingent arrived, I ordered that the ships be launched in two waves. I was to lead the first Cruiser out, followed by the other one after we distracted the Liberty forces. Knowing that this could certainly be an interesting flight, we made last minute preparations and launched.

Once in space, I knew I had bitten off more than I could chew. Ordering all turrets to engage, I set a course for the Colorado jump gate in hopes of luring the Navy away so the other Cruiser could make for Minor. This worked better than I had hoped, for the entire force of Navy, LSF, SA, and allies followed me! Fighting valiantly, though inefficiently, I was able to take out a couple of the enemy before they over powered me. Seeing the end, I ordered an evacuation, hoping the other Cruiser would pick us up. I was saddened to leave such a beautiful ship (and such a new ship) to be destroyed, but it was the price we had to pay to get at least one ship to safety.

While the Navy was celebrating their "victory", our escape vessel was tractored in by the other Cruiser on the way out of the system. Lucky for us, for I don't think me or my crew wanted to spend time in a Liberty prison.

After all that planning and organizing, we were able to make off with just one Cruiser. While not a total loss, it was definitely not the pay off we were hoping for. But, with one Cruiser under our belts, a series of set backs for the Baltimore Shipyard, and humiliation for the Liberty forces, we still made some gains!

Long Live the Order!!

While on yet another boring patrol in Omicron Minor, aboard our new Liberty Assault Cruiser the "Armed and Hammered" (named for the rag-tag way that we obtained it), we received an interesting communication from my friend McKinnon, captain of the Huntress "Yahtzee". He stated that while on patrol in Omicron Delta, he came under attack by Order forces, and needed immediate assistance. Finding this just a little bit odd, I ordered a course set for Delta.

Upon arriving in Delta, we were met by the most peculiar sight: a pair of Osiris were attacking the Yahtzee. Not waiting for an invitation, I engaged the closest Osiris. Feeling slightly outmatched, and out gunned, I hailed the Yahtzee and firmly recommended that she retreat while I drew the enemy fire. I then proceeded to screen the retreating Huntress with my ship, hoping to buy a little bit of time for McKinnon to escape. For anyone who has gone up against a battleship in a mere cruiser, they will know what I mean when I say it hurts. Feeling the brunt of the enemies attacks, I was very thankful I had installed an armour upgrade, for I would surely have perished without it.

Hearing that McKinnon had engaged his cruise engines, I made a quick turn towards the enemy ships. I aimed the bow of my beauty into the space between the battleships. With the momentary confusion that this caused, I was able to use the last of my nanobots and shieldbatteries to repair the massive damage done to my ship. The pause was far too brief, for before I was midships of the Osiris, they had turned their turrets back on me.

Seeing one last chance, I ordered all fire to concentrate on the port side Osiris' engine, hoping to reduce the ships movement capacity. After sustaining repeated missile hits to its engines, they finally exploded. Quickly, I ordered a hard turn to port, hoping to get around the damaged ship and use it as a shield from the starboard battleship.

That was when one of those fancy red lights started to flash wildly on my captains chair. Glancing over at it, I saw that the enemy had used the same trick as me - they had cut most of my engines! The battle had quickly gone from bad, to far worse. With no options left, I started to give the order to abandon ship.

Just then, something marvelous happened - the port battleship went up in a fiery explosion! As this happened, I heard the hysteric voice of McKinnon on the comm.

"Well, looky here, seems like the rescuer needs a rescue! Radioed some boys over at Primus to give us a hand. Thought a supernova or two might do the trick!"

And so it did. Seeing its partner reduced to small pieces, the remaining ship decided to try and flee. Silly captain - he didn't get far. With the combined firepower of my Assault Cruiser, some Corsair bombers, and a handful of Titans, we were able to destroy the fleeing vessel.
"Look at us! Two wonderful ships, damaged almost beyond recognition!" hollered McKinnon over the comm. "We should get put up for medals for this little show!"

"I think your friends from Primus deserve one. Thanks boys," I replied. "What happened anyways McKinnon? Why were you attacked by our own ships? And not just any ships, but Osiris class ones!"

"That is an eventful story, and I will tell you it over a beer while we get these ships overhauled - my treat!"

A little while later, after Command was able to send over a retrieval vessel and tow my ship back home, I met McKinnon in the bar. Already on his 3rd beer, he told me to take a seat, while he ordered me a Cretan brew.

"I told you I would tell you about today, so get comfortable - this might take a little while..."

Ummm, not to put a serious dampener on your story efforst, but your what, Corsair? And just how that justify you having a Liberty Ship when the rules for one state keep your ship and equipment as close to you ID as possible? Now granted, that gives you some leeway as to what you can use, ie: ships and equipment of your Allies, but come on...

Just my 2 cents worth. Good story though if the Admins say its cool with you getting away with the ship.

As you can see the admins have said no to the ship being used by an order character.

Practice what you preach mate, you've done it three times now, including once in a thread started by a keeper.
