Thrown into a crate with dozens of other letters just like it, and loaded onto a Dromedary. Safely aboard, it broke atmosphere and headed down the lanes and through the gates, dodging the Federal Police along the way. The crate was handed off, among others, to Hessian operatives in Dresden. The Dromedary didn't make it back to Berlin, but the letter was safe and on its way to Omega-54. Sorted and stacked, scanned and packed, and finally slapped down on a dusty desk in the recruitment office. It was here. It was finally time. Scrawled on the envelope was the word "aflyingbiskit," presumably a throwaway SKYP-3 address, in case the Hessians cared to respond.
Born on the Ring then family moved to New Berlin. As a young man I Joined the Rhienland Military and have moved up to the ranks of colonel. I am a soldier and a capital ship commander and have become sick of the attitude of the Leadership and infectious Daumann scum. Got seriously drunk and destroyed the New Berlin capital fleet in disgust, since then my crew and I have been on the run, Now I wish to join the Red Hessian Revolutionaries to Rid Rheinland of Corsairs who killed my father and the Kuger and to lower those offal to the realms of peasantry. But mostly to wipe out the Daumann scum and the weak and pointless and ineffective Rheinland military!

Oberkommando, I believe you know who I am. My name is Carl von Manstein, Leutnant of the Rheinwehr.
I was once proud to be part of the Militär of our Vaterland, willing to sacrifice my life at any time to protect the Rheinland Volk. However as I climbed up the ranks I saw with my own eyes the corruption and decay that lie within. At first I tried to ignore it, a childish action as I thought it would go away. Eventually I requested to be transferred to a bureaucratic post. This proved to be an even worse decision as I witnessed first-hand the disastrous orders of my superiors or their incompetence. Admiral Winters is a particularly good example of what I mentioned before.
I had lost all purpose and that was when I realized that your pilots had mentioned the same things multiple times over the past few years. Of course I had simply ignored them as we were indocrinated to not listen to anything except the official line. That it was when I realized Rheinland's enemy is not an outsider but her own corrupt and cancerous body.
So I am sending you this message while en-route to Dresden system on my Stargazer to inform you that I surrender to the Red Hessian Army. Do whatever you want with me. My personal wish is to allow me to fight for Rheinland through your ranks and thus I submit my past history. I admit, however, that I have not yet embraced your socialist agenda.
Born at 793 A.S. in Planet New Berlin, I had been a receiver of several honors during my service in the Rheinwehr. I have been awarded the Liberty Warfare, Vaterland Defense, Military Service and Reconnaissance Ribbons as well as received several Campaign Medals.
Some of the campaigns and events that I had been part of, are the following: ✙ Participated as the Kanzler's honor guard which met the Kusarian Emperor in Planet Kyushu. ✙ In Rheinwehr's Expedition in Sigma-17 system which ended with the destruction of the Corsair fleet. ✙ Participated in the attack against Bretonia's Armed Forces in Omega-3 system and after BAF's defeat in the short invasion in Cambridge system that followed. This also led to the subsequent skirmishes that took place for roughly one month in Omega-7 system against the IMG, BAF, RHA and Coalition forces. ✙ Participated in several raids in Texas system and personally commanded independent bomber squadrons against Liberty Navy's capital fleet.
Finally, prior to my enlistment in the Militär, I worked as an escort for Republican Shipping convoys.
