Event Background:

Liberty Police Incorporated have watched in alarm as petty crimes have overwhelmed our Republic. Though this increase has been dramatic these crimes are mostly minor in nature. Tradelane racing has become very popular recently. Unfortunately this activity threatens the safety of our ordinary citizens who daily travel along the Liberty Tradelane Network.

Our bureaucrats have spent a lot of time studying this issue. They recommended tough new laws against anyone caught racing. As Chief of Liberty Police Incorporated I am always interested in finding new and creative ways to fill our Prisons with "workers." However after much thought I have decided to handle this issue in a different way. Since the harmful aspects of tradelane racing are due to the proximity of racers and civilians the obvious solution is to separate them. It has been decided that in the interests of public safety we will provide an opportunity for racers to enjoy their fun without potentially harming innocent civilians.

Attica Supermax is currently undergoing renovations to increase the capacity of the prison. All the prisoners have been temporarily moved to Sugarland until the project is complete. As Attica is currently empty it will be used to host this event.

Race #1 - The Labyrinth

Sunbucks Inc. will be awarding 100 million in prize money to the winner.

'Labyrinth' Mine Field

This Mine field is a testament to LPI engineers. Dubbed the "Labyrinth" by the officers, it has thousands of 12 megaton mines, capable of destroying as much as a battleship that strays too close. Deep within the field is Attica Supermax, LPI's most secure prison. The main entrance is at the top of the field, guarded by 2 weapon platforms. Most visiting officers are surprised by the apparent lack of security, but then they proceed further. The mine field has almost 900 different paths within it. Take the wrong one, and you're a dead person. Each ship entering the field has the correct path entered into their nav-maps, and anyone deviating from the course set is asking for an early grave. A radio blanket covers the field, stopping all communications, and giving further warning to unauthorized pilots not to enter. Some pilots give rumors of a small passage at the bottom of the field though, but what it is for, no one knows...

Racers be warned.
This racetrack is like none other.
Even a slight navigation error will lead to death.
