Question: do JD cds stop normal cruise like cds do?

They shouldn't...otherwise what's the point of making them separate in the first place? You should have to make a tactical decision about which type of escape you want to prevent, not just have an "all in one."

Exactly. Once people actually have the JD disruptor...they'll make all them JD BSs very sorry they sacrificed armor for a disruptable escape. That being said..and going back to the OP's point - making CDs the "anti-all" in the interim isn't really a good thing.
Explain.

So far as I know, disruptors will take up the CM slot, so you'll be able to mount both a CD and JDD anyway.

An extra "EMP Disruptor" CD would just be fine if yer asking me. It could be a multip-purpose disruptor which also has the ability of disrupting Jumpdrives/Cloaks, how about that? Balance.

I get that, I meant as in I want Highland to explain why an all-purpose CD is a bad thing.

The way I see it, to use one of these new types of CDs you have to sacrifice a crucial piece of equipment for a small gain (you essentially lose your ability to run away just so you can stop a guy jumping in and out of fights over and over again). However, what sacrifice does the Jump Drive user have to make? He already gets to mount it on an empty equipment slot that isn't used for anything else anyway and gives him a overly-efficient running away ability.

With the way JDs work as they do now, it'd be imbalanced not to have an all purpose CD. I think it's even sillier that cloak disruption is becoming separate too.

Just looks like to me you're stuck on your own opinion and ignoring other posts, because the sacrifice has already been pointed out.

You're not getting an all-purpose CD just because Black Widow pissed you off. I'm not impacting the entire community just because you had a bad encounter. Be patient and wait for JD disruptors.

Separate disruptions is a flawed concept though.

This thread can be locked I guess as it's run it's course, or le toucan can arrive and make it more colourful.

It's not a flawed concept.

1 - There's no reason a device that cost hours of time and money can be disrupted by everyone and their mother.
2 - There's no reason a single ship should be able to disrupt everything without severe sacrifices.
