I must admit... I am disappointed. Very disappointed.

Me and my bud spent several hours in seeking for roleplay, inside House Space, outside of it, even in Omicrons - because of the status of the faction I recently proposed and someone joined on his own will. What did we get after arrival to the Omicrons? The Core - completely ignoring us, all other people - nothing. Only The Order tried to roleplay (kudos to you guy in Major), but it went nowhere as well. There was in-group RP short roleplay, and kudos to that guy in there as well.

It's needless to say both of us got tired and left the system we visited last, then F1-ed in the safe place, because we were so pissed off that no one on the roleplay server actually cares about the roleplay. All what actually matters, for my taste (or I would say, our taste) is getting blues, like it was the most top thing in the world. You want more blues? Stick to Conn, where PVP is without any "roleplay limiting the pure PvP experience". I understand this is an action game, but "roleplay" should stand for something more than just seeking opportunities to kill peps around!

And this is not the experience from this exact day, I has been for a year (or two) to make my opinion about on how things work.

I would not point it out, if it was action server. But God damn it this is a roleplay server, majority of people I have encountered so far either ignore will of roleplaying or use partial RP to excuse getting their blues. It has been a good few months since I got good roleplay with anyone that hasn't been a 343 member. Last time I got some decent non-343 roleplay was my Fukushima and TheUnforgiven's Argo. The other awesome RP I had was with Ageira with business talks and Rosenkov/Renzu journey into Omicrons for Iridium.

I held myself many times before it. Many people convinced me to ignore this problem, but today is a day in which everything crossed the line. I will say a sad truth about Discovery, because I simply lost all my faith into Discovery:

There is very little from the real roleplay on the server - the vast majority is just bunch of excuses to get blues.

Almost feels like forums are for RP, and actual game is for PvP only.

We were kind of about to shoot, and then began shooting.
You should have come earlier when there was RP going on outside the Freeport. In fact even during our later fight there were people at the Freeport you could interact with.

Don't judge the book by its covers.

There is a lot of good roleplay around, maybe you just don't have the "luck" to meet the right people to roleplay with .

Since I know you're talking about us back in Delta, to be fair, I did want to RP with you people to find out who you are, since I had no clue who you were. It was an annoyance that I had to pvp with some said people, but Pvp is inevitable and will always happen. Pvp is also part of RP, believe it or not.

Also.
It is a shooter game so, eh. Just unlucky timing I guess.

Note this is not only about now. I spent enough time to realize that almost no one give a single crap about the roleplaying, just getting blues. I can count on my all ten fingers people with whom I had a good roleplay. If I offended you, I'm sorry. But I slowly get tired of Disco in a shape as it is.

It became a lot harder to find if you don't have any contacts that are really into it. I usually patrol my usual route close to the taus but have to log to random emergency calls eventually because nothing really happens. I will continue to do so and maybe a bit more random activity will return when the player counter rises.

The problem is I refer both to now and to the past when server was full (I'm fully here since last year's summer). From what I've seen on my all characters so far, I must admit everyone just do not care about roleplay, just pure pew.

First of all. You don't want people to focus on PvP, right? The thing is, if people prefer it that way they can play that way as long as they stay within the rules. Simple as that. You have to tolerate that. Just as those people have to accept having to roleplay when they are trading and get stopped by a roleplay orientated pirate - or else they get blown up.

In general there are factions and individual characters known to rp and others who are known for the opposite. Seek out those who are known for the first, avoid those who are known for the latter. You have to accept that people might not meet your personal standards of roleplay, it makes your disco-live much easier.

If you want to "enforce" roleplay, I recommend characters/factions with the ability to actually "enforce" it ingame. Pirate/Terrorist factions who can open fire if people don't follow their demands. It makes people more likely to take their time to type something.

Also a thing I noticed is that people with a roleplay-itch take absolutely unreasonable inrp-risks to get rp. Like for instance flying into a 10K radius of a hostile and inrp hidden base. And then they expect the other side to welcome them and chat for an hour even though the reasonable rp reaction would be to get rid of the intruder as fast as possible and with any means neccessary. The result being overeager roleplayer one accusing roleplayer two of being a PvP-whore, even though player two acted more inrp than the person, who searched for rp in the first place and forgot about the actual inrp common sense.

I don't really know where I am going with this honestly. So I might as well stop.

Well although I've had similar problems, I feel like its always been that way. People are in various stages of involvement in the server. New players are shy and lack confidence. Players getting into the swing of things that are just learning how to be successful at PVP thirst for more. This is indeed an RP server, but its also a PVP server.

Having said that, I think its just the time of year. Its summer, and the population on the server is normally so steady and habitual, we all feel it pretty quick when things drop off a bit.

A couple weeks back I was short on time for logging (still am really), so instead of hunting or pirating I would just log and sit at a Freeport. I usually do this when I'm just looking for RP. Its a non threatening stance, to hover in an NFZ...people feel a little safer about stopping to chit chat. And I must admit I had a few good encounters with what seemed to be new, independent generic players that RP'd better than I expected at first. And personally, I stay out of the omicrons, because its been a warzone and doesn't seem like it will be changing soon. It seems to be the place to go if you're looking for battle, and not so much inrp conversation. Also, from the pirate's perspective, there are no shipping lanes that run through the Omicrons, so not much trade going on. That also means its mostly military fleets patrolling, probably not looking for conversation.
