True Roleplay - not existent on the "RP 24/7"?

Something to realize, PvP is a form of RP. RP doesn't always mean having long conversations, sure there are some that only really care for the PvP and it can be frustrating sometimes dealing with those people but even then I find plenty of people willing to RP here and there.

All I ended up wondering after reading the OP is what exactly you're doing to "initiate" roleplay. Is your character someone random strangers should care about? Are you just saying "hi" to military pilots, expecting them to stop for a lengthy chat with some random civilian while on patrol?

Also, I don't know what kind of guy you are, but if I'm flying a 'serious' character and someone else's character gives off a "Weeee I'm Kusarian~~~~", "Wooo I'm a 12-year-old pilot!", "???: I am a super mysterious edgy person" or even a "Look at my tail it's so fluffy" vibe, I tend to ignore them as best I can. I guess the same might apply to others.

Not trying to roleplay with PeterTrans1993 or LNS-strongFighterman2 helps, too.

Yeah, there's little to no actual roleplay in this 'roleplay Server', and that's extremely disappointing. One or two people here and there offer roleplay if you're a lucky bastard and manage to find them, but other then that there's just PvP whores waiting around the corner with a Flashpoint Centurion to shoot you in the face. And man, that's just disappointing. This place used to be fun.

All the lore and all the roleplay possibilities are just ruined by the extreme amount of people that don't give a toss about the RP in the first place or are too busy wasting their time powertrading instead of logging off, figuring out what English is, then coming back to do something other then trade for that big and strong Liberty Carrier.

I get the fact that this game is mostly a space shooter, but if we go by that logic we should delete everything other then the Eagle, Sabre and Titan because this is a space shooter designed for Very Heavy Fighters. :|

And yeah, if you want to blue some random space person so badly just take five seconds to type /conn and you're all set and ready to go. The Stargazer is a good enough ship to be able to wreck things.

This is all mostly true, which is why I work on making friends who do RP before PVP, its not that I don't enjoy PVP its just that I prefer RP, its also one of the reasons a friend an I decided to come back. I also feel like we should find a way to encourage new players to do RP.

Ive never been a huge person for roleplay, but I disagree with this toris, there is plenty of roleplay on the server, matter of fact, almost everytime im on my BAF| or my [C] I am looking for roleplay and I usually get it on both (taus are kinda dead so Struggle is real on council). There are a lot of ppl that dont RP but if you ask ppl on skype they will RP with you ive done it a few times.

This, in my opinion, is what the OP is trying to say. Since when do one needs to have a Skype agreement for RPing? I mean, just a month ago, I've "kidnapped" a character in Order space with my Order character, after finding that it was an AI engineer and O'Rhu needing one. Now, the freelancer escaped and I try to find and get her back. No need for Skype, no need for earlier agreement. That is what the OP is trying to say, Pure RP based on encounter.

Come to Mu friend, or around Order space and if you have a worthy story you will probably get away unharmed. I guess...XD.
Not all are set to kill, even if, disappointingly some are. I would not go to the extent of saying a great deal of them, but some are, indeed.

Discovery wasn't the first RP-centric game I stumbled across, but it was very quickly to understand that the community is indeed a RP community, but the server itself - a part of the community, and a MINOR part of the community, mind- is a PVP server with RP-lite elements.

Members associated with the Furry Fandom will always look at Disco in a negative manner in particular, because of their experience with cybering roleplay on their own sites. There is no way to compare that kind of effort and that which Disco offers. When it comes to the server specifically, it is more about the gameplay rather than the RP itself, this is something many players have gotten to understand very quickly in the past. I am still surprised it took you so long to figure it out.


TL;DR, you come for the RP, stay for the gameplay.

There is very little from the real roleplay on the server - the vast majority is just bunch of excuses to get blues.

As you've said above it's action game.
I should add that space is dangerous and roleplay is something more than words, it's also actions. So, if people prefer to playing their role by shooting crap out of their enemies - it's perfectly fine. After all, there should be more warriors than diplomats.
