Alright so my question is, what counts as engagement in a PVP situation? I'll explain the situation first of all..

I'm in California hanging out by a tradelane on my Liberty Rogue character, waiting for convoys. (Lane not disrupted)

When I notice a lsf/sa/navy fleet inbound. Instinctively I hit cruise and leave the area, I manage to escape, and never fired a shot, nor did they take my shields below 50% (I don't even remember them shooting me once but they claimed they did)

Anyhow,I get away, and they move on to target other pirates and a phantom.

Figuring its clear, I move back to the lanes and wait, and catch a trader. I demand he drop 100 units of Luxury food for my starving crew, he refused, so he ended up dead... I get my 100 unit anyways.

Now here the LSF/SA and Navy(indies) return and open fire, and start demanding I leave the system because I apparently disengaged earlier? I left anyhow considering I had my loot for the day, but they still persisted I had broken server rules and told me that a FellowHoodlum would be there shortly to sort things...(never did show up heh)

Anyhow, theres my question. Did I engage the LSF/SA in the first encounter? where I simply left the area when I seen them coming and registered no hits to my ship? Did I disengage despite not firing a single shot?

I've re-read the rule a couple times, and its not clear exactly what is an engagement...

*note* the LSF and SA weren't the ones quoting rules there, it was indies (just want that clear)

Considering you hit cruise BEFORE any shots were fired ... and i suppose they never dropped you out of cruise with a CD ... I don't think this counts as an engagement. And I believe we've had this discussion before.

Imagine if you will ... an LSF fighter flies by an LR fighter. The LSF fighter is in cruise and the LR fighter is sitting still. The LR fighter first a shot or two at the LSF fighter. Whether the LSF fighter is aware he was shot at or not ... there was no engagement.

I do not believe you did anything wrong. The indi police/military these days are on a power trip and think they can make their own rule's. Heck earlier today i saw more then 15 military/police ship's at manhattin just blocking all traffic. i had not1,not2,not3 but 6 diff char's demand i stop to be scanned. This is becoming shear non sense.

Yeah, thats the thing, the first engagement, they never knocked me out of cruise, they followed me a bit, then left.

No shots were fired, therefore there was never an engagement. Hope that answers your question.

The rule is perfectly clear.

PvP is dropping someones shield to 50% or below.

As that didn't happen they were rules-lawyering and asking for a sanction.
