Teamspeak works for smaller communities, although Mumble has many more possibilities and is a much more open system. Of course, that makes it slightly harder to deal with from a serverside perspective (not in terms of resources, but effort). It's a tossup, and depends on the situation.

Mumble is definitely superior to Teamspeak.

My main reasoning would be because of the insane processing that Teamspeak randomly desires. Mumble also uses less latency than the other programs, and less resources, which is probably the winning reason here. Mumble can also support more users. It's also easier to maintain administrator-wise and host wise, due to being open source. Also both Teamspeak and Mumble use Opus now, which Teamspeak didn't use in the past so eh, can't really argue that the voip is of higher quality. Teamspeak may come out on top due to aesthetics and group functionality, which seems probably most wanted due to circlejerkin- groups that exist within the community.

I'm highly doubting anyone else in this thread has tried mumble and thus, are biassed to Teamspeak. Or are too damn lazy to find out themselves. Gits.

The only thing I would use Mumble for is the idea one guy once posted about. About the thing of System wide communication, implemented in game. as you guys probably remember, mumble makes it possible that only people that are like 10k near you hear what you say, can be programmed and toyed around with pretty much.

But as in just speaking with each other, like on Raids and all then definitly Teamspeak.

I have used mumble before, when playing eve with a corp, and from what i remember it was a real pain to set up and get properly working.

i'd say both have their good points and bad points. on the general user friendly front, i think teamspeak has the edge so i'd probably vote TS though.
