I understand us, playing this game and being around forums. After all, if you will lead faction and you will develop some technologies or anything else, you will need logic and knowledge from reality like, laws of physics. You have chance to at least role play something you always wanted to be or that you always wanted to do but, your life (like mine) is pretty messed up - researcher or pirate or pilot of Navy etc, etc.
Also, you just do not use anime pictures of a woman with cat ears as a character's profile picture, or even an animal from anime (cats, foxes) that's just not right nor is logical in Disco. Discovery Universe has Nomads and nomad infested individuals and anomalies around the Sirius but does not has mixture of anime and humans. Seriously, Nomads are actualy connected to an old Egyptian/Syrian history, where they described aliens and their advanced technology as gods. Everything in disco is connected at least a bit to our real world.
Gallia, Rheinland, Liberty, Kusari, Hispania... they all represent colonies from old Planet Earth - at least, a bit reality connected. I don't remember seeing anime on streets nor, I never learnt about it on my history classes.

Ok..... your attitude towards Anime offends me, but that's ok, you ARE allowed to have an opinion on such things and if your opinion and my opinion don't match, well that's fine too, we'll just have to agree to disagree and get on with whatever we choose to do with our lives.
I for one watch anime because I've discovered that I get a great amount of entertainment from it.
Yes, there is a fair amount of 'panstu' and upskirt ect, but most anime is aimed squarely at guys and that gets them sales, as simple as that.
However, there are many Anime out there that aren't in your face all the time.
'Overlord' is one Anime I have watched recently that doesn't have any naked for no good reason females in it and was a pretty good watch.
Another Anime I enjoyed was 'Black Lagoon', but it is pretty violent.
As for the guys/people who buy body pillow covers with anime girls on them and assorted other items, they tend to be 'Otaku' or people who are *really* *seriously* into anime and manga, just like you get people who are the same about Star Wars or whatever.
Not making excuses for them, some of those people, whatever they are heavily into are just plain weird. :p
