Tomioka (late) events

I had this idea: We organize two battles (or more if they're going well and the public wants it) that would have taken place already prior to the Blood Dragons landing on Tomioka. It will be mainly a battle between Blood Dragons and Samura with the possibility of allowing some support factions if the interest is big enough.

Technicalities: This is the interesting part. Each team will have a Field Commander (FC). The FC will be choosing his setup for the battle but will be limited by points.

What are points?
Each class of ships have a number of points:
LF / Freighter - 1p
HF / Transport - 2p
VHF / Battletransport / Liner - 3p
SHF / Bomber - 4p
GB / GS - 7p

This method was imagined for larger fleet clashes and this will be a test to see how it works out. We will exclude caps for this event for two reasons:
1. RP reason - moving a capital ship could attract unnecessary attention and this operation is considered to be stealthy.
2. Balance reasons - Samura has no access to caps.

Each side will receive 10 points that they can use for each battle. The FC will use these points to have its ideal setup without knowing what the other side chose (Fog of war).

Battle #1: Orbital Clash - will take place on the far side of Planet Tomioka so that docking rings don't influence the battle.
Battle #2: Atmospheric Dogfight - will take place in the atmosphere and only snubs will be allowed. No Gunboats!

Why do you say GBs should have more than 5p? From a balance point of view, I'd say they're fine. What am I missing?

Because on that list gunboats are the apex predator that nothing else can touch. You'd usually need a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio of snubs to gunboats to have an even keel. The sheer discrepancy in killing power between a gunboat and a fighter/bomber is worth a lot, lot more than 1 point.

If its intended as primarily a snub brawl, just limit each side to 1 gunboat and have them cost 10 points.

Hmmm, you're right. Let me do the math. If we give 7p to a GB we can have:

1x GB, 1x VHF
1x GB, 3x LF
1x GB, 1x HF, 1x LF

How's that?
Keep in mind there's FOW and you don't know what the other side is picking. They can go full snubs and then, any of the 3 setups including GBs would be in danger. Imagine a team of 10 LFs or 5 HFs. Or even a team that has one Bmb and 3 HFs.

Also as far as I've heard, the dragon gb is better than the civilian ones.
