Since I have gotten back into platform games, I decided I would try my hand at making a Mario game.. Except with Luigi as the main star. The man in green has to get his time in the spotlight, right? I mean, he's only had one game... well two if you count the game "Mario is missing", as you played primarily as Luigi. I'll post a first demo when I have most of the basic movements out, like moving, running, jumping, double and triple jumps, walljumps, etc.

Haven't even started it yet... But I got the stuff I need... So I guess I had better get to work! If anyone can think of moves to add in, tell me and I will make a list.

Features:
O Energy meter - Instead of the classic "Start small, get a mushroom and grow, get hit and shrink" style, this will feature more...endurance type health. 10 units of health, heres how it will work
1-2 Units - Tiny Luigi
3-9 Units - Large Luigi
10 Units - Either Large Luigi form with extra moves (Brings the word's Super Sayain to mind) , or simple powerups. Power Ups being Cape, Flower, Hammer (HAMMER TIME!), or anything else.

O Large array of movement options - Besides ducking, jumping, walking, running, and caving enemies heads in with your feet and body weight, my goal is to provide OTHER methods of attacking, such as punching an enemy in the face, grabbing an enemy and deciding to use him as a shield, or throwing him, like in a pit, or just away from yourself.

O Complex(ish) Boss fights - No I don't mean the one we have on the forums (would be interesting though), I mean bosses that require more than "Shoot it and it dies" type fight. Bosses will be able to alter the playing field, defend themselves, Grab you and toss you around like a ragdoll, shoot you, flame you, maim you, and pretty much every other evil move you can think of.

O Ability to defend - There will be an ability to defend yourself from various kinds of attacks, and the ability to counterattack some enemies that attack you physically will be available.

O Game will reach a 'worth playing' stage - If I have people who want me to work on a game, instead of me doing it out of interest, there is a larger chance that I will spend more than 10 minutes on it before I get bored. ADHD sucks, don't it?

Anyways, give any more ideas, as long as it isn't a hadoken, or however it's spelled.

At the end of this game's production, Loozy-I mean Luigi, will be a lean (more than Mario anyways), green, butt kicking machine...

Downloads
http://www.chat-arcade.com/SLW/mmfs2.dll - required for usage. Either place it in the same folder as the demo's, or place it in the system32 folder.
http://www.chat-arcade.com/SLW/Super_Luigi..._Demo_v0_01.zip - Demo v0.01 testing movement.

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

Just try it. Maybe let the last boss be me, and I always win!

That would be one hell of a storyline...

Yes, hence why it would be a good idea.

A small level editor would sound good as well.:P

I'm actually only for 9 units of health, 4 small Luigi, 4 super Luigi and 1 for the verious power-ups (Fire Flower, Cape, Tanooki Suit, Frog Suit, Hammer Suit?).

If you need help with 2D sprites, I'm your man *points at avatar*;)
I know several ways of ripping sprites, have good experience at editing them and know some good sprite resources.

EDIT: Perhaps add a few difficulty settings, for the hardcore gamers here.;)

I am currently using someone's custom sprites while I get the movement script set up, but I am going to have to make my own before long. I am good with sprites too, just not bigas* ones. I just got quite of the basic movement done, but somethings wrong with the Triple jump... For some reason you have to jump twice before you jump higher than normal..

EDIT: It appears that I have him jump, THEN read how high he should jump, causing it to jump how he was supposed to, but one jump later.

Finished a basic test. So far, I think it WORKS right, but I could use people to try to find some bugs...
Go to the Download Page to download the demo. You will ALSO need the mmfs2.dll file, which can be found in the same area. You can either put it in the system32 folder, or keep it with the exe demo file.

Arrow Keys move Luigi.
Z key is to jump.
X key is to run.

Currently implemented:
Movement
Crouching
Jumping
Short or long jump, depending on how long you hold the Z key.
Wall Jumping. Move against the wall to slowly slide down it.

Looks promising, buuuut it loses Luigi if you move off the screen.
