Nomads RP

Guys i was wondering about the Nomads RP. when i see a nomad and he start to speak in the strange way they do. it means they are talking in my hear. its like i do not hear them but i hear something talking in my head... Am i right ? ... how to communicate then. i can start like "Wondering what this voice comes from" then start to direct my words to the nomad as i know now that there is a nomad around ? and what would be a good reason from the RP point of viewer to start PVP a nomad ? Like i would ask him to leave and stop poisoning humans mind and get us infected ?

Can any one give me a scenario as an examble to get the idea and explain it to me ?

Do i have to create another forum account for my BMF Char ? or its enough to use this one and just mention in the signature the name of the Char i am speaking in his name ? like assign each post for a Char with the same forum username ? i think it would look more professional if the Forum username match the Char in the name and in the Avatar.

First of all, I'm quite surprised Nomad Trial ID is still in use - as that's not open use ID anymore, if memory serves me right.

Secondly, I do believe asking @Shinju about this would do the thing. She had a lot of Nomad roleplay, some of which made me actually cry from laughter:





Thirdly, no, you don't need to create a new account for RP character. Accounts on forums are completely ooRP and there's no reason why players would hide the fact they own X or Y character. Of course, they aren't obliged to list these in a respectable section.

Nomad Trial ID is different from regular Nomad ID in two major points - good one is you can go anywhere (with regular Nomad ID, you can´t leave Omicrons), bad one is you can fly only Morph (light fighter).
Also, if the guy said you can´t attack him, that´s not true, he can be treated just as any other nomad. So if you want to shoot him, you can (with proper RP before opening fire, of course).

I´m pretty sure it´s not restricted in any way, I own one too. There is no reason to do it, its major purpose is to give players option to try Nomad roleplay outside of Omicrons (where is hard to find anyone to interact with sometimes, while in houses you can simply wait near gate or lane), what is traded for very limited PvP potential of LF.

Imo, nomad RP is full of holes.

Firstly - when I tried to learn it I've been told that it's not just voices in the head, it's also combination of other senses.. Scent, touch and stuff. Which makes no sense when you try to combine it into one message, but okay.

Now some opinions say that they can't speak english, but I call it very imposible right away. For a species that can fake a sound with telepathy and species that posessed a lot of human beings, which continue speaking proper english, that kinda makes no sense.

Other opinion said that they use words that humans don't have and try to replace them with closest ones they have... I am sorry, but I can't follow that thought in the way Nomad players do, because their attempts to replace stuff sound like broken to an epic degree english. Which is not actually adds up, when you read by lore that they are much more inteligent than humans.

Someone else said that they do not speak proper english because they are proud to lower to the level of humans. And that is... well, it's silly for several reasons. If they would try to coexist, that theory is out of the way immediately, as highly inteligent species should understand that humans barely can comprehend them. If the goal is extermination of humanity that doesn't come up either, because... well, firstly they should be killing people. And if they come to use language to trick humans, they might as well try to do it in a maner that humans would be able to understand without trying to get deep into the phylosophy behind a phrase made of random words. If they just try to communicate out of random, like our casual RP between enemies... Well, Nomads have already lowered themselfs to using human language, so why not make it understandable human language?

So yeah, I still don't quite understand the reasoning behind all of the mess. If someone would be able to clarify it, I'd be grateful.

that make sense now thank you for clarifying. If i am not mistaken with the name since i have a memory of a fish and i would not remember to relate Chars in the game with Names in the forum i think we met before and i was with my Frankenstein Char and i had Cardamin on me. that was many months ago when i 1st came to the server.

What happened is that after you stopped me since you was flaying a police Char i drooped my cargo but i refused to pay and i huge the planet to die and return back to where i bought the Cardamin. i actually did commit suicide. I understand now why it would not be acceptable in the RP point of view i should either pay or fight back and resist and die within the RP. I understand now also its a big risk to fight and resist since i am dealing with a Char from official faction so there might be consequences for doing that like getting banned from entering the Rhineland space or to be added somehow in a blacklist so i am killed on seen in Rhineland. Like Real Governments. with criminal history that does not get reset when i log off and come back later. Its a continuous story so i have to care for the Char reputation otherwise i might come to the point that i cant really flay the Chat anymore from how much enemies the Char gain and how many criminal list its listen on.

Am i right ?

Well it sure was fun messing around with your head yesterday. The nomad you were likely talking to was me. I said you couldn't attack me because there wasn't any RP before. Instead, you just attacked me without warning on sight. If I'm wrong, that's my mistake and I'll gladly take the heat for that. Otherwise, "the more you knoooow!" I really hope to RP with you guys sometime again. Anyway, here's a brief explanation on Nomad RP:

Nomads RP usually involves attacking the mind of a human character. Even if morphs cannot attack with weapons (except in defense), they have the ability to talk to your mind, and create visions. Nomad speak involves speaking in a very cryptic way; we use all kinds of symbols and wording to make the message take some effort to understand.

Visions are the key to breaking the mind of our opponent. We can make human beings "see" things. My way is to start out small, but descriptive, then intensify the vision slowly until it becomes truly mind-breaking.

Now, about the IDs: There are two public nomad IDs the player can use, each with their own benefits. There is the Nomad ID, and the Nomad Trial ID. The Nomad ID is obtained on Nomad bases or /restart nomad; it restricts you to the omicrons and small-sized ships, and also prevents you from tractoring in things (I haven't used the Nomad restart in a while). However, you have full permission to PvP anyone you see after sufficient roleplay (there might be an exemption to this). The Nomad Trial ID is obtained somewhere special I won't disclose. This ID restricts you from PvP entirely (unless it's in defense of yourself or a Nomad/Wild ship/in Conn) and also forces you to use the Nomad Morph (the light fighter), which is a very agile, but easy to destroy ship. However, the Nomad Trial ID allows you to fly anywhere you want in Sirius, so you have more people to roleplay with.

When it comes to opening fire on a Nomad, a good reason to fire would be that the Nomad is trying to attack the mind of you or someone else. By "attacking their mind", I mean blatantly trying to make their character feel negative emotions. If this is going on, you're probably clear to engage. Here's your example:

A Nomad flies into Omicron Delta, meeting two Core players in the middle. The Nomad starts to attack the mind of one of the players in question. The player's character starts breaking down, but the partner has had enough and engages the Nomad, disrupting their attempt to attack their mind. This would be all that's needed to start a fight.

If you need more information, talk to some Slomon K'Hara members. They know everything about Nomad RP and Nomads in general. You may not find many in-game, but they are prevalent on the forms. I hope I helped you a bit.

This is one of the reasons why nobody gives a crap about the current nomad factions, when their ''serious RP'' is viewed as highly pretentious and of no value most of the time, while they are constantly kept under a magnifying glass when it comes to PVP, because ''how dare you resort to shooting if you are a high profile RP faction!!!?!11''


Nomad ''roleplay'' should be flying around and scaring the crap out of players by engaging them on sight, no bullshizzle attached. This approach would make people organize defense parties to protect other players.

Sadly the just shoot approach when put in practice, is literally as fun as being shot by some mute ''no englis ))'' guy in a cap for all intents and purposes.





It is a flawed faction altogether.
