I cannot believe that a civilized mini-argument has been formed on these forums. In this thread, no less. It even had an apology at the end of it.

The end is nigh.

So, Nomads shot at someone and killed them.
Here is the thing Nomads are having that in their job description, they are supposed to be the worst evil in the universe, they are supposed to give you something you should fear.
If they hit you while you are on your own and in a pretty defenseless situation, then thats bad luck, life isnt always fair and the respawn button in this game is there for a reason.
To be honest, I like this approach to Nomads more then the 'cuddly lets talk for an hour before I shoot you, but actually get ganked to hell and beyond because you called your friends' one.

see how much you like it, "deal with it"

freedom phantom's post earlier described very well the actual situation with these nabs.

Given that greentext explicitly allows Khara to engage without any RP at all, the implication is that they cannot then break the rules by failing to give enough notice: they're not obliged to say anything.

How do you shoot me more than once in 2 hours if I play by the rules and dont enter the system again?
If you go and chase me through all the systems I go then other rules apply that would also get you slapped rather hard.
Sorry, but I fail to see the big problem here, except that someone dies and loses precious pixel moneys for one trade run.

I don't know if you're ignoring 80% of what people are writing in this thread or you think it's not an issue.

In my case, I was in a KPT fighter. A fighter, not a silent trader.
Around 4-5 other people.
In orbit of a dockable, habitated planet.
In the middle of RP.

The next thing I know, while I'm writing I hear a large PEW and my ship explodes - game over, respawn.

This is okay, yes?
This is not contributing to anything harmful to the community, yes?
It's perfectly okay that I got randomly removed from the game for no apparent reason, and my fun completely ruined, yes?

Do you enjoy playing games where, at any point, you can have the antagonist spawn behind you and murder you without a chance to resist, forcing you to restart from the checkpoint and losing progress for no reason whatsoever? I don't think Discovery should be such a game, but it seems that the ones getting satisfaction out of killing others (to the same effect as just writing a /kill command) and causing s.a.l.t. disagree.

Apparently you did not read the thread and the comments thoroughly enough. I at least spotted other reasons than loss of pixel money, for example loss of roleplay opportunity, sudden and seemingly pointless interruption of roleplay encounters, etc. I assume that people who have a problem with current K'Hara conduct in this thread expect K'Hara players to actually address their concerns instead of blatant disregard and neglect.

EDIT: It seems Ramke beat me to it.

@Jansen
The problem isn't pixels. The problem is that engagement without giving any chance to respond, as some K'hara players are rumored to do, is serious violation of the server rules - put aside the fact that roleplay is distrurbed in a very violent way.

That is the main problem of certain K'hara players. Okay, they don't need to say anything. Granted. But then, decloaking behind and instakilling is violation of rule 3.1, giving no chance to react. Unless you are the Geth, HAL or any other from of AI that can do dozens of actions in a milisecond.

I will repeat it again:
Official faction members should abide to the rules - not break them and get away with that.

Because if this is an acceptable action, then we shouldn't be wondering on why there's hate on all Nomad players.
