Obviously the audio recording and video recording were done at separate times. Otherwise, he has an entire band shoved into the corner of his bedroom somewhere accompanying him. Regardless, someone somewhere played it, and I'd rather hear that at a wedding than the usual that sounds like a funeral.

Regardless, someone somewhere played it, and I'd rather hear that at a wedding than the usual that sounds like a funeral.

He's playing along to midi backing track. Although I do agree Xoria, I have filmed so many weddings now that I have been forever put off the idea. The end in arguements and sound like a funeral, people dress like idiots and fake emotion for the sake opf the video. Sickening.

Sorry buddy, wasn't fake. I've been playing for 8 years, and it didn't look fake at all. His fingers where where they where supposed to be. And there are plenty of guitarists that can do what he just did. Its actually very simple. basic rakes, bends and I think the effect he had on helped him a bit, but came of looking difficult and technical.

Its always that way with guitar. Stuff that I thought I would never do I could do in a matter of hours sometimes minutes once I was shown how. Because once you have been shown and learned it....Its easy:)

The very sad part about this is that a lot of very talented musicians don't have the drive to promote themselves enough to make it big.

The guitarist in my band now sadly has a repetative strain injury in his left wrist due to playing guitar, but he had talent that is very rarely shown even by the famous guitar heroes. His main problem however was simply not wanting people to know that he is really good...

I have the same problem.

I'm asked to play at schools, concerts, and other things....But I don't want to advertise it THAT much ALL the time. I like to show off every now and then. But hate it when everyone is on my @$$ goin'

"Hey your the dude that plays that gat! play us a riff!"

I haven't gotten RSI yet. But fear getting it from playing every time I pick my guitar up.

And I've played for 8 years, but feel no more skilled then I did 4 years ago. I don't consider myself good, but others say I am "teh uber guitarist in teh whole skool, omg...."

Now I know why celebrities shave their heads, and take drugs...ect...ect. They have the same problem!:cool:

The very sad part about this is that a lot of very talented musicians don't have the drive to promote themselves enough to make it big.

While this is drifting from the subject and even agree mostly, I need to mention that its not the same music industry it was 10 years ago, 20 years go or even 30 years ago. The system has evolved into a state of things where while its very easy for someone like myself or anyone to create an independent record label, market themselves and then promote it, its an even more impossible situation to make a living off of it by music alone. Thus the paradox is formed because to truly make it in the industry you have to be willing to give it your blood , sweat and tears (as my friend from Machine Head said). The market is saturated with independent sources. (especially in my genre of Electronica because its said to be 'easy to do with a computer' <--- hahahahaha another whole discussion) The idea that one can make an album and basically distribute it globally for a very low cost without a major record label isn't that far fetched, but from a realistic standpoint is an exercise in vanity and borderline stupidity.

A guitarist in particular, where I once stood, is at the mercy of a band at all time. One gets married, one goes to school... it was the summer of 69... etc. Been there done that. Several times. You find that solo operations may suit you better, but still it doesnt change the fact that promoting yourself still isnt enough sadly. For those that give up, yes truly sad. Those that really do try and have to come to reality with the way things are... even sadder.

Sidenote: Long live Buckethead. Totally underappreciated.

Amen man. Bucket melts faces. I works as a live sound engineer so most of what you say there rings true, however this is a fairly major topic swerve now.
