So my PC turns off on its own before it hits the windows startup.

Before that, it turned off on its own when I tried to boot up Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. It'd load but crash before the first intro cinematic.

Even before that, Transformers would have a black screen on startup and wouldn't load at all. I then noticed that I couldn't launch freelancer either, as I'd get the "3D video card hardware not detected" error. I tried to update my GPU driver, restarted my PC after cleaning a little bit of dust out of the case, then tried to play games again. This lead to the second paragraph.

I also tried to run Deus Ex HR and the quick inventory HUD that is typically at the bottom of the screen was in the center.

Sounds like it could have been an overheating issue. If it won't boot up properly at all, that could be a fried motherboard from said overheating.

Do you know what temperature it was running at before? Unlikely, but it's not like you can find out now, right?

If it crashes on startup then it looks like something died, and it's not good news. Did you try running in safe mode and running a sfc\ scannow from command prompt?

I can start it up and get to my desktop, then it eventually turns off.

could be so many things, psu/ram/cpu/mb failings

go into safe mode, and boot, and wait for sometime, what happens?

does it reboot itself?

what are your system temps?

have you upgraded something late, gfx card, ram cpu?

if it reboots on "normal" system startup it could be a driver confliction

tried a system restore, although, i dont like doing those as most of the time, they dont fix, a lot of problems

So far it seems like it doesn't turn off in safe mode. I'm able to access the desktop and cmd without issues. I'm not sure how to check my temps in safe mode (I tend to use speccy) however I do have a nxt fan controller that gives me the rough temperature of the case (it was less than 30 degrees). I did recently upgrade my gpu drivers.

I do have a system restore point, although I think the system repair mechanic rolled back to that restore point and it didn't make a difference. I guess I could try again.

Currently running it normally right now. No reboots yet...

I've been able to run speccy and I got these temps:

77 degrees - cpu
27 degrees - gpu

My cpu is an amd fx-8350 and it's max temp (within the safe zone) is supposedly meant to be 67 degrees. However reading a post on tomshardware tells me that the temp reader chips in their processors can register as being 20 degrees higher than they actually are.

Do all your other games work fine?

If you head into the Device manager in the control panel, you can check whats up with what, Maybe your graphics card is just freaking out from the new driver (It can happen) Or somthing else, But honestly, Im no professional, But at least I can suggest for you to try somthing (I like helping people!)

Feeling from the other side of the case, it certainly doesn't feel that hot either. That much heat doesn't feel like it's coming from the cooler either.

Thanks, I'll try that out.

Cpu temp appears to be fluctuating. It's dropping to 34 degrees.
