I don't really mind its presence but we should stop adding dedicated forward gun weapons. They should just be mortar/heavy mortar slots.

I'd also like to know this. It's not like they're balance breakers or something like that.

On topic: Model-wise, both are fine. The 2nd is sexier but none would actually fit the AP line.

The 1st one looks more like a badass warship and would somehow fit the role better.
The 2nd one just looks nicer in terms of aesthetics, but does not look like a ship that can take punishing fire in battle.

What's wrong with adding more forward guns?

I'd actually refrain from it until they are fixed. All forward guns have the bug that sometimes you see them hit and do damage, but your target sees them miss and do damage. Or, you see them miss and not do damage, while your target sees them hit and not do damage. It is really difficult to avoid a projectile if you don't know where it is going.
