Hey

So I was thinking these days about a new command in-game that I think it would be useful (if it is possible, of course).

So when you are in-game and you have a character and talking with other characters you have to write the character name each time you write something. So I was thinking if there is a possibility to implement some commands that when you press the chat button (enter by default) and open the chat window the name of your character automatically appears there and you don't have to write it every time. For example if your character name is "Mike", every time you press Enter, the chat window opens and there already is written "Mike: " there and you only write your message.

I was thinking like two or three commands for this thing...
The first one to set your character name, somethings like "/set charname [name]" .Also the name length can be set to 10-20, because I don't think that there will be some character name with more than 20 letters. Or there is?
And the second command is to activate "your name". The command can be like "/inrp [ON/OFF]", or something similar. When you turn it ON, your character name will appear in the message window and when it is off... will not appear. And also the default setting will be OFF when you log in, so every time you log your ship, you have to turn this command ON, if you want to RP.
And another thing, to remember your character name, when you log your ship, where the first messages appear, there will be a new line something like "Your character name is....", or if no name is set, write something like "You did not set any character name" or don't write anything. Also there can be the third command that shows your character name, like "/showcharname" and the result will be something like "Your character name is set to [name]" or if you have not set any names a message will be returned like "You did not set any character name for this ship". This command is not necessarily.

So what do you think about this? Is it possible to implement this thing? Or do you have any other suggestion to make it better?

Thanks.

You can just write your name only once and then use * to represent the same char.
Example:
McCat: You can't believe it!
* Cats are master race in our universe.

I actually like it cuz of being fast and simple Smile

Why would you need to constantly keep mentioning the name of your character, unless you are a capital ship guy? Mention the name of your character once or twice, then stop using it - people will get the memo.

There is a easy way to do this.

Using a program called AutoHotkey you can make a macro. What is a macro?

Say you instruct the program that everytime you type, for example , "char" it will be replaced by "Rocky:"
So you can type in chat "char Hello there!" and it will show as "Rocky: Hello there!"

Just introduce yourself when speaking with someone if you want them to know your name.
