The Liberty dreadnought is a good ship, but it is not the problem. The carrier is. Your average player mostly looks at the stats when they buy a new ship. The carrier has a whopping loadout of 28 turrets of pure democracy. And it looks like Uncle Sam with sunglasses.

That is how you get to have a combined fleet of carriers and dreadnoughts. The first simply charge in general, while the dreads stay far and fire. That way the fleet is separated and easily defeated. If the carriers stayed far, they would either still be hit by Valor prims, or only be able to use mortars and thus not the full dps potential.

Valors are known to triumph in most battles. It can't be skill every time. If there is no good carrier update coming soon, I think that all carriers should be replaced with heavy/light battleships for the sake of balance.

Carriers aren't supposed for taking other capital ships down. They're not supposed to be as tough as other battleships of their size. We didn't see Carriers taking on other battleships in WWII.

The main issue js that the Carriers cause and potential can't be activated until the FLHook devs actually work on the docking modules plugin. So they're not really working as carriers -for the current time-.

While true, in Freelancer battleships already fufilled the role of warship/carrier. So be extension you could say the LAC is actually a dreadnought with enhanced carrier abilities.

But yeah the liberty carrier isnt bad on the support role, and the secodraies work great against the average pilot in cruisers gunboats and maybe snubs even. So you know, it's not that bad of a ship. I also have to agree with ghost as it perfectly fits the role of a carrier too rather that a tanky assault battleship.

Maybe not need a new Battleship, but being Liberty it should have one like all others main factions.

The Carrier i can say is almost useless against ... everything! hahaha. It have 27 turrets, yes... but it have the same powerplant than other with just 16. That will make the Carrier run out of enery too fast, while others can keep continuous shooting with cerberus for example.

Maybe, the solution would be change some slots... 21 lights slots... 4 standard and 2 heavy is not really good for that powerplant. Maybe something like 17 light slots, 6 Standard and 4 heavy would match more with the size and use.

Or, another option, set up the powerplant according to the number of slots...

Actually in combat, just 3 fighters spamming torpedoes, in the Carrier you MUST spam flaks... that mean running out of energy and you will die for sure, more if you try to use light turrets against one snub of them, energy drop to zero fast...,

The Liberty Carrier "Atlantis" should can do something more than... screaming and scratch paintjobs.

NOTE: think the amount of Liberty people and the amount of people against Liberty, everybody who normally play against Liberty will say "not need a Battleship" hehe.

With two VHFs and five different capital ships (compared to the respective one and three or four of most other factions that even have capital ships at all), the notion of modeling yet another ship for Liberty is an insult to every other faction in the game. All the factions that need heavy-duty military equipment are already well stocked with large shiplines. Your efforts would be better spent creating interesting mid-level multirole ships like the Junker Salvager -- perhaps a Gallic unlawful combat transport or a mass-market mining frigate.
