You know what's gonna happen - people will be like "Hey, let's all rename our ships!" and then they'll find a reason/excuse like "cba, I'll do it tomorrow." while eventually forgotting to rename, and we're back at the beginning.

Even though - and I quote here, this is not my own opinion - the admin team would never let me have access to the desk, I would gladly spend the time to read through however many tens of thousands of characters exist on the server and change their names. Seriously, its gotten ridiculous. Noob names like peter157 or whatever are one thing, they don't know any better, but there's no excuse for meme names.

Don't get me wrong but this seems a pretty blunt way of handling it. Like Who decides what or whose names are legit or not ?

It is hard to help it unless introducing high culture and RP standards as an own mark, and only this way, by being an example, one can change the overall attitude.

I still believe that high grade attitude is more important than reaction to behavior as stated above.
Do not forget and do not underestimate the statement "Roleplay no matter what".

I'm more in favor of this.

Removing restarts is a no. Renames should be more expensive though. 200mil for a rename wouldn't be that bad of an idea.

The problem comes true when you join a faction and have to rename your char

It could be made that renaming fee is waived for Official factions, and halved for unofficial ones? the way of controlling this would be through the tag pass, and the admins could monitor which tags are waived/ halved.

The community overall has gotten much more lax. The very fact that the Team has removed the notion as a ''permaban'' and replaced it with an "indefinite" removal with a 6month appeal system has made people view this as if the Team is not risking to fully remove players as content from the community. This leads to a very ''pofigist'' attitude, where any sort of removal is viewed as just temporary. At the same time, senior members have already learned how to walk the line where they can push the limits of behavior and not get in trouble.

At this point the only reaction to that can be tugging on the reigns, but the community might be a bit too far gone at this point - they have alternatives to Disco just like any other person, so such threats and warnings are disregarded by default these days. So what if Disco gets shut off, not like there ain't other games to play these days.

That is the attitude.

it is also because some old vets left that knew how Disco's environment was before and lots of new people came in bringing their memes with them.
Either that or the vets got really bored and started memeing because they all know each other and joke around and the new guys think this is the norm and follow along.

So no.... i disagree rather with sindroms on bringing in the admins as a factor when it comes to sanctions. There is however slowly but surely almost a full replacement of admins with less experience.

in spite of all this talk though... the people that are saying to remove memes and all this crap off the forums are not stepping up to do it themselves.
