Aye, you're doing a great job. And frankly, if you're going to ask something important, avoid forums, as it's a place full of nonsense.
So don't leave and keep it up Smile
Good luck with it!

Dear Johny

I don't think you should go. Don't let people dissuade you. Instead use their criticisms to guide you in improving what you do. There are non of us that are perfect. So perhaps the community should instead, come to your aid. Helping you to help them. Having a skype or TS channel would help avoid the oorp conversations annoying others. That would also make it easier for others to support what you are doing. Until it was destroyed you had the use of the USI POB Emlenton Storage & Imports, which I arranged for you (I am no longer with them). Would a new POB help. I for one would chip in some credits and effort to build you one if that would help. You could engage the newbies to help build it even, there by giving them some diversity.
Hope this is helpful. Be like Churchill "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." and "CBO"

Hell, I don't have a lot but I'll be willing to help build a POB. That's a good Idea actually.

You are a good guy, with good intentions and helpful towards anyone who is new to Disco, if that is still relevant. But, as Lyth said, you take things too seriously. Like the piracy encounters inside Penny. I seriously don't think anyone would hate you to the point of making you quit. btw, you have helped me a lot when I was new here and I never got to say thanks for that Smile

How about a few suggestions, and better still offers, to help Johny. I don't think there are any of us who wouldn't benefit from it. Make some positive contributions. Less burn more learn.

While you help newbies and are more active than any Angel on the server and the idea you have is right, you are in fact - a terrible example to the new players. Your lack of self restraint is frequently exposed with line upon line of //READ RULEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS in system chat whenever something ends up killing you.

I have interacted with you on my pirates, both Jonny and the Helper. You need to change what you take as an example for new players. Every single encounter I had with you over my presence in Liberty has been an eye-rolling wreck. From constant harassment that a Pirate IDed character is using a Freelancer IFF and how it is against the rules, to how a Xeno IDed caracter does not have an IFF at all. You seem to PM every single unlawful player to try and keep them away from the system SOMEHOW and then up wondering why are you under so much attention?

It is because people have had it with your nonsense. You need to take a step back and look at what your actions actually show to newbies. Also, I do not buy it. You seem to have a grude against any unlawful player, your actions already show this. I was told in the past (A year ago) by a newbie that they were outright told by you that interacting with pirates is not an option and that they should either remain silent or avoid interaction. And considering your behavior on the Helper, it takes very little second thought about how valid those words are.

Do us all a favor and keep away from Penny.
Teaching newbies is a delicate job with very little room for mistakes. At least leave it to a dedicated faction that can be controlled by the staff if needed.

^ this basically, I have witnessed it myself on several occasions as well.

Do what you want but do it well. If you like teaching then teach well.
And also teach noobs that there are better things to mine than helium. I offered one time to help this dude and he was like : no helium fast.

XD

Also teaching noobs is not a delicate job like sindroms says.
Like... Are you kidding me? ROFL

People here are giving you constructive criticism and you shouldn't take it personally. Honestly, I think we need more people who dedicate their time to helping new guys learn about the game and how this community works. I have personally taken one of the new guys under my wing, but that's irrelevant. With that said however, a majority of people that have posted here before me have a point. I've witnessed one of the interactions where you were rule lawyering in local chat and it wasn't pretty, especially considering that not a single rule was actually broken by anyone involved. Try to keep your frustrations out of the game as it doesn't help anyone. I see that a lot of new players look up to you, and while that's not a bad thing, you need to change your attitude. When I was new, I used to avoid pirates on my trader at all costs. After a few enjoyable interactions, I actually started liking being pirated. Not every interaction you have in game is going to be enjoyable, and some of them will be outright frustrating. The key is to learn how to deal with it and move on. This is a game after all and we're all here to have fun.

There are players that run around Pennsylvania asking for ridiculous amounts of money from new guys, which I completely disagree with, by the way. However, there are also pirates that merely ask for 100-200k with the goal of providing noobs with more interactions so that they can learn our ways, as opposed to those who ask for stupid amounts of cash for god knows what reason. Go through the rules again, try to remain calm when something bad happens (it happens to everyone and simply can't be avoided) and involve yourself with more experienced community members. Might as well start a completely new character, join a faction, write up a story about that character, why not?

I don't have anything against you and I appreciate what you're doing for the entire community, but you also need to enjoy the game for yourself every once in a while in order to be a more stable and satisfied member. When you achieve that, you'll be on the right path.

For finish with this hehehe: (happy)

First, SORRY for those cases i was wrong. From yesterday whole day, i was reading the chat logs from 2 years old (2014, march 13th), im saving them from these strange situations happening, and I see till now (more or less 1/2 of total logs) 80% cases those "//OOC read rules" was totally needed as rule 2.1 say, and other veteran ships around also in local ooc confirming about it, was not only me.

In some situations, thanks I used "//please read rules, you are acting wrong", the attacker changed his mood and the newbie (victim) remaining in the server when he read it also. In other situations, the newbies just leaving after the crazy pilot shouting him in local "//you are dead, leave!"

hehehehe, as i said, i was reading the Logs from 2 years ago, and clearly some players are taking it personal against me...FROM MORE THAN 2 YEARS AGO. I have a really BIG list of callsings, no idea if all are the same guy but i can confirm (and others) recently there are more than one just looking for ruining my personal experience and roleplay, the cause still unknown... (see the recent perma ban Angry.Xeno for several rules broking for long time)

I hope you understand my personal frustration when there is/are some players focusing against me... and not only directly to me, just attacking newbies for annoy me, they know that affect me due I like so much to help newbies... That is why i drop several "//Read rules! you are acting wrong" but in real those messages are not directed to the crazy pilot, he know how he act, the intention is the newbie victim can read it and dont leaving the server as others already did.

(03-27-2016, 02:35 PM)Protégé Wrote: this basically, I have witnessed it myself on several occasions as well

Again, i want to say sorry for those veterans around who watched me with OOC Read rules message, but i repeat (I have the logs here...) in several times that was totally needed due the attacker was acting really wrong against rules.

I can promise this will not happen again. But guys, use common sense... if you are looking for PURE ROLEPLAYING, dont search it in the newbie system... have no sense. If you want to buy fish, dont try to go to the pharmacy hahahahahaha.

And about me and Pirates interaction... seriously, i have NOTHING against pirates, i like them! (the interaction hehe) and some can confirm it, overall oficial Rogues, they are good pirates! (mostly hehe), also with my TheHelper navy and some others unlawfuls, we has really good RolePlaying and something others will not understand...yes a Navy and an Unlawful interacting and Roleplaying WITHOUT VIOLENCE hahahahahaha.

Not all RolePlaying NEED to finish in combat... is not funny trying to keep RolePlaying when while you are writing you read "anyway.. i will destroy you" in middle of the conversation and roleplaying ends inmediatly... maybe too much coffee? Angel

Thanks for the constructive critics! things will change Wink

As for me, Johny you helped me a lot, for the first steps and first earnings i don't even know how I would go thru. And your help is more than generous and there will always be people who do not matter, it will be. My opinion is that you should not go anywhere and continue doing what you do best and love to do, because your help for beginners is more than welcome.
