As per requests it will get a texture rework once I would have free time.

Sounds like an interesting rp platform.

I think you should add a "point" to make it look like a carrier. (Snubcraft) Docking amenities should be an important part of the ship design, despite docking modules currently being non-functional.

It should be possible to incorporate this in an exploration/utility-focused design, though, as you could theme the docking ports around being used for smaller exploration shuttles.

Though I actually like the Bustard's current model, I do realize that it presently does not have a realistic docking/launch bay. I think that snubs/freighters are supposed to launch/dock at the front, but are they sized to fit anything besides a slim fighter?

I like where the current docking area on the Bustard is, though that's mostly because it's an uncommon place for it. My main concern is the vessel being so flat that it suddenly seems unreasonable to fit freighters inside. The idea of a giant mobile home away from home is pretty neat, though!

Is the plan to retain the current stats (armor, type of turrets/shield, etc.), or re-work those, as well?

Battleships dock at spacestations like FP11. So... I suppose making things just aesthetic will do the job.
I have no idea on current ship stats, and no idea on what stats will it receive, but I suppose it will get balanced accordingly to a new model.

Remember, this is about the only civilian-grade jump ship in Sirius, which means 700k/7mil powercore.
Giving it one or more heavy slots would be amazing, though, if the stats change.
The ideas presented look cool, with the mobile home being my personal favorite.

Honestly what I'd love to see is a replacement of the entire top portion of the serenity with a large flight deck, basically giving it a landing deck similar to the Tiidani Support Frigate [Image: support_frigate3.gif]

Surprisingly from a realism point of view: carrier decks like this are probably safer than traditional "hangar bays", as bays are little more than corridors into a carrier's weaker sections with quick access to fuel lines and ordnance racks. A large deck like this would be little more than an armored landing platform with protected elevators leading down into the ship itself.

Could be nice, would add some variance to the carriers we have now in-game which all look like little more than battleships that have eaten way too much birthday cake

I doubt we'd need a carrier deck that big, though something like the carrier in Star Citizan might be cool where you have a small one and the hanger bays ontop. Ether like this or this would be cool imo.

2. It will start off the Serenity's frame. Not much wider, 1.5-2 times longer, a bit flatter, maybe with an additional pair of engines, higher specific length of the bridge / cabins, some towers, docking gate (s).
3. Overall it should be looking not too flat in the middle, more narrow to the front, with somewhat similar aft as Serenity has and Serenity's colour scheme, but could be slightly changed considering textures I am currently using.
4. Most likely it would have minor or medium asymmetric details.

F*ck yesss, though current color scheme and symmetry of Serenity is just fine.

You are aware this is going to be a spaceship, right? I mean I guess it's totally okay for atmospheric carriers to have flight decks where snubs just land and then the pilot just hops out of the cockpit to have a nice walk to wherever he can get down into the ship, because there is an existing atmosphere and with that atmospheric pressure and air, but in space we don't have that, and seeing how we have carriers only with hangar bays kinda implies that it is a significant detail.

Hangar bay, pls.

and You're aware that pilots in spaceships are typically already in EVA suits already, yes? People ain't just gonna hop in a fighter's cockpit in blue jeans; they're in full EVA suits for the eventuality of their fighter being destroyed - even if were using escape pods, you'd still logically be suited to prevent meeting the hard vacuum of space face-first.

And while that'd make for a dangerous spacewalk on top of a carrier in a combat situation, bear in mind what I said before about elevators: simply land on said elevator, descend into the hull, and boom: safety.
