Is there a realestate company in disco at the moment?
If so how much is a planet?

Can only factions buy systems and planets or can individuals?

Only factions can buy guard *systems* (probably representing the costs of colonization, development and in some cases administration) which can (very rarely) contain planets, but not just planets.

We could RP the buying of a planet thought right? Say if Liberty authorities tired of owning Manhatten...
or Pittsburgh, I could "buy" it for a substantial fee right?

I doubt realistically any house authority would "get tired of a planet", seriously...

... What would you get from buying a planet exactly?

And... a substantial fee, I'm sure that'd mean something in the hundreds of billions for somewhere like Manhattan.

Only factions can buy Systems I think, why'd you want to buy a system or planet anyway?

This is my signature.

The only way to acquire a planet would be by conquering or colonizing it, really. Freelancer's scale just isn't large enough to support the idea of whole planets being sold.

I have a used planet I'm tired of. Be happy to sell it to you for 1 billion. It comes with a free bridge too.

Hee hee

*Lashes a rope around planet manhattan*

*ties rope to his ship*

*Flies off to the borderworlds, his ship creaking and groaning, moving at an astounding 1 meter per second the entire way*

"Hey, it's my planet, I bought it, lay off!"

Lol you're all mockers. The lot of you.:P

Maby it's my egotisticle side but I really like the idea of 'owning a planet'
Baron von Soong. Nice ring to it.

But seriously...if I owned a planet I could charge a docking fee. Say for some planet like Denver.
Or I could refuse certain factions entry.
Heck you could even have a unique item that grants the carrier the right of ownership to XX planet(s). That would get the pvp whores going.
"look! I own 7 planets!!! I pwned the previous owners!"

Say for example each privately owned planet would be 'sovreignly' owned and have a 2km radius of ownership.
Most of the time the planets would act in the space they are in

like in liberty you follow liberty laws and such.

I don't think I could stand if certain players got their own planets.
