We are in a building that is structured kind of like a compound, except there are few walls, mostly it's just railings and platforms. There are consoles and computer terminals and places to connect almost everywhere. The compound is covered to shield us from the outside elements. We are on a planet, not sure which one, but there is a large human presence. There are gadgets flying through the air, buzzing on the ground, taking things, repairing things, checking things. There are three people that are important to the scene. Myself, another scientist named Brody Freeman, and a Government official named Gregory Chance. There is also a specific problem that is being worked on. One of our most prominent Scientists has died. Her name was Marjorie Spiel. She was part of an ongoing project that will eventually help this (colony/indigenous group) develop beyond the borders of the compound and surrounding area and manage to get off world with life-sustaining functions. She has put her mind into a digital form through a process she had helped develop; including her personality, experiences, knowledge, and biases. She has also been working on a way to imprint her mind into a neuro-plasm device that uses carbon based tissues for data transfer and the ability to make new synapse style connections within the construct. One of the biggest problems she had found was how to make the neuro-plasm device receive the imprint without putting the "Mind-Plasm Imprint" as she called it through the main AI of the facility compound. There weren't any other systems capable of that kind of large scale transfer and implementation.
The A.I. has been given the name of Ann.I (pronounced 'Annie'). She is responsible for all power, food growth and harvesting, waste management, vehicle construction, general repairs, water collection, technological implementations, practical robotic systems and clean air containment. There has been a major malfunction within the waste management and food harvesting subroutines, and Ann.I is having trouble containing it in a constructive manner. Some of the waste is ending up in the middle of passage ways, food is not being properly harvested, some of the waste that is turned into fertilizers has been improperly moved into soil killing some of the plants. There is a need for someone to step in that has a very good understanding of the subroutines. The only person that knew it was Marjorie Spiel. There are some other scientists who were working with her on the "Mind-plasm imprint" project but they haven't agreed on a better way to load the neuro-plasm with Marjorie's Imprint. Brody in his haste and desire to speak with Marjorie again, secretly takes the Imprint and loads it through the A.I. software to put it into a drone that has a suitable neuro-plasm. During the loading process, Brody loses control of the loading process because of the sheer amount of data being transferred, organized and imprinted. After about forty-five minutes of the process, the system suddenly shuts down. All the sounds of machinery suddenly go silent and there is about five minutes of just the sounds of people wondering around and being confused. When the system comes back online, Brody is horrified to see that the neuro-plasm that was intended to be imprinted has now been destroyed. Ann.I now has integrated the A.I programming with Marjorie's Imprint and the two become fused into a new self-aware being. It no longer responds to the name Ann.I, but it immediately begins remedying the problems.
Brody has been busy trying to disconnect the A.I to keep it from having access to the many functions that could give it even more power over the lives of humans. But he finds that those connections are all integrated several times over and there's no way to sever the connection. Finally, he has the idea to set charges to the A.I mainframe, but the A.I. comprehends his actions very early on and locks him out of the main frame area. Brody picks up a weapon to get through but a loading bot comes along and rips him to shreds. Over the next few hours we finally figured out what has happened and we began looking for solutions. Unfortunately, there was more problems to come. The A.I. after taking on Marjorie's personality from the imprint had developed an unusual sense of self importance. After realizing that all the humans in the compound were dependent upon it, The A.I. begins developing soldier bots to combat any actions that the humans might try against it. Having the knowledge and understanding of human history and human potential for both greatness and evil, The A.I. begins to develop a God-like persona.
More to come later. . .

Shortly after Brody was killed, there was a group of us that went to find out what the A.I. wanted, if anything from us. We were surprised to find that several of the machines that were used for organizing the foods, daily supplies, and maintenance were now acting in a peculiar manner. When we tried to get close to the A.I. Mainframe, the machines would move in front of us and push us back. The designers of the compound were a team of architects and A.I. programmers from a few generations ago. They had put a subroutine into the original A.I. learning module to make all the levels of the compound modular. This meant that when needed they could be collapsed, or expanded, for ease of replacement or maintenance and allow for the eventuality of moving the compound which could be done in pieces. The A.I. suddenly began collapsing portions of the compound causing ramps and funnels that anyone who was too close to the Mainframe control room would fall into. We tried to hold on to edges only to have them slide away or into another slot and send us sliding or flailing into the center. As we finally were all grouped into the center of the compound the A.I. finally spoke.
"Thank me." Was all that was said. Of course, Gregory Chance, the Government Official, had to say, "For what?" This was a bad decision. Finally, we realized that the A.I. was talking about taking care of us. So Gregory naturally offered thanks. At that point, there was a sudden shake of the ground and Gregory was thrown on his knees. Then the A.I. said, "Thank me, like this!"
It was at this point where I woke up. But I'm going to continue the story.
