Meeting Over Dinner (Private RP with Genexus)

[Doc Holliday]

It was the end of a day's work. A major surgery, two root canals and several rounds made to visit recovering patients not to mention, more lives saved. Doc earned a nice dinner with his expected guest, Dr. Alessa Samson. He knew little about her but they already had some common ground. Outer Rim University, medicine, science, research and the Seraphim.

Dressed in a shirt and bow tie, he wore his overcoat. The chain to his pocket watch attached to a button. He found his private table at the restaurant aboard his pride, Med.Force.One. High on the deck of one of his observation towers, it overlooked Gran Canaria while the ship remained in orbit of the planet. Pleasantview Lounge was the the most luxurious restaurant on the ship as it was intended for a pleasant place for his people after a long day's work.


He thought about playing a few numbers on the Baby Grand Piano in the corner but wasn't much wanting to at the time. Rather, he sat patiently after instructing his security and waitstaff to make sure that Dr. Samson was well greeted and escorted to his table. As he waited, he went over some files on his datapad.

Escorted by two helpful men Alessa arrived at the restaurant, directly heading Mr. Hollidays table. She looked around with a pleasant expression caused by the design and the layout of the restaurant.

Good evening, Mr. Holliday. Thank you for the invitation. It's a pleasure to be here at this surprisingly luxurious location.

Alessa walked around the table, gave Doc Holliday her hand in a very neutral way and took a seat in front of him. While smiling typical friendly, she felt a little underdressed for such an environment, or at least how the environment appeared or was supposed to be. Still wearing her regular business outfit, she noticed that Doc seemed to prefer a leger clothing as well.

I see you are already making your studies it seems. I very much like people, who are prepared.

While saying this she pulled out a very very old notepad and some documents having the title "Outer Rim University - Classified", "Outer Rim University - Administration", "Outer Rim University - Projects".

I think these are any neccessary documents and information to start our...

Alessa stucked for a second, seemed to think about the situation for a moment.

...our relationship, but first let me take a look into the menu. I am very excited having a nice dinner.

He stood when she arrived. The southern gentlemen showed as he took her hand with a light smile and and seated her. He then motioned for a waiter.
"Welcome to Med Force One, to this date, my greatest accomplishment," he stated.

[color=#FF0000"]I see you are already making your studies it seems. I very much like people, who are prepared."[/color]
"I do my best," he answered. "I'm all over this ship so much that I have to keep everything encrypted on this pad. It's linked to my com in my quarters."
He looked at the documents in front of her but for the moment, ignored them. A drink and dinner first.

He motioned a waiter to their table with drink and food menus. "You will find that we have cuisine from all over Sirius and Gallia. That applies to the drink menu as well. Please, no recommendations. There isn't a bad thing on that menu but be warned, it's quite extensive."
A few minutes later, the waiter returned to take a drink order.
"Cognac, please," ordered Doc. While she ordered, he just watched and listened. He was good at studying people and learning about them. She was attractive but professional. Yes, someone he could work with.

"So I trust your trip here was uneventful?" he asked. "49 has been quiet, a welcomed change from the past couple of years."

"Thank you very much, Mr. Holliday. It has been a long time since one appeared with such a courtesy. Please, I take a Martini." Alessa said while pushing everything on the side. She looked at Mr. Holliday and nodded agreeing and continued: "Yes, it was a very quiet travel, but please, I may eat anything, except a gallic meal. Theirs cuisine is nothing of my taste."
Alessa noticed that she pretty much like the style and appearance of her host, but even that he seemed to value or estimate her and smiled transparent. A little amused about this she easily continued the conversation: "I think I am going to order something rheinlandish." She still checked the menu, but continuously switching view to Mr Holliday.

"Rheinlandish," he stated, "a good choice. I think be a little different and go with something Kusari. Some of the fish they have on Honshu is simply awesome."
With that, food was ordered and it didn't take long for the drinks to arrive. "I'd like a toast," he stated as he raised his glass, "to Outer Rim and new successes."

Doc was a little lost. He wasn't sure where to start. It had been a long time since he worked with someone who was his professional equal. "But why worry," he thought in his mind, "two intellectuals can accomplish much."
"You know, I haven't even stepped foot at Outer Rim as of yet," he explained, "only one of my ships has been there, Med Force Three and it's staff. I've been so wrapped up here that I haven't had a chance to get out so if you'll excuse me, I'm a bit lost as to where to start."

Alessa raised her glass as well, just nodding in agreement as she felt toasting is something for men. The Martini was pretty well mixed and a perfect flavour of a drink as it used to be. After the dead of her Mentor Eli this whole thing was a good decoy and it was propably the first serious laughing after hearing Mr. Hollidays words. "Funny, I even have been able to visit the University only two times yet. It seems we are the perfect candidates." A good taste of sarcasm might be the best way to introduce an important conversation like this, but just a moment later she appeared serious again.
"Aside of this, there are a couple things we have to discuss. First of all, the most important thing is, the University isn't constructed up to 40%. It's a good accident and might be very good that the Med Force one is located here. There is already a contract with Omicron Supply Industries, but after the recent events a continuation was missed."Again she seemed to stuck after the sentence. Calmly grabbing the glass and taking another sip of her drink Alessa looked around. Recently anything was an entire stress for her and she pretty much deserved to have this to be a relaxed and comfy time. "Please excuse me Mr. Holliday or do you prefer Doctor Holliday? I am probably a little to fast. Don't you think that the staff can play some warm music for us? Then we can maybe continue talking about ours expectation of the University."

"And please, just call me Doc or if you wish, by my first name of John," he smiled. "Let's be professional but not TOO professional."

"If there is one group I worry little about is Omicron Supply Industries," Doc replied. "They've persevered for years. I was friends with their founder, God rest him. But fear not, if they run into a snag, they usually work things out and pretty quick at that."
"Outer Rim and Med Force Mediplex in the Taus have the common bond of both being incomplete," he continued, "the difference is, I don't have the supply chain going to the Mediplex."
He then smiled, "I have my own transport and I don't mind running goods as needed."

Her request of music was almost a cue. The baby grand sat in a corner and the waiter came to check on them. He quietly spoke to Doc but loud enough to where Alessa could here, "You know, Doc, you're probably going to get asked to play. People love your playing."
"Well, as you can see, I'm with someone right now," he began, "but, if it'll get others to play it as I know some can, maybe I'll oblige."
He smiled at his guest and turned on his old southern charm, "Well, Ma'am, if you will excuse me a moment."
He rose from the table and sat behind the piano. Without any introduction, he started playing and eventually singing.

"Please," he assured, "my friends call me Doc. But, if you prefer, my given first name is John. I'm fine with whatever you're comfortable with."
He then went into OSI. "Omicron Supply Industries is one group I worry little about. They have overcome a lot and are still strong. I remember when Sam Nichols started it. He was a good friend. If they're in a bit of a supply lull, they'll get that fixed before long."

He sipped his drink and continued, "Of what I've seen on the Outer Rim, I do like it. In some ways it's like my own Med Force Mediplex in Tau 29. It still needs work but its a work in progress. Perhaps we can get the two working together at some point but that's for another day. One place at a time."

The waiter arrived to check on them. For Alessa's music request, it was almost like clockwork. "Are there any piano players here?" Doc asked him.
He responded softly but both could hear, "Well, Sir, there are some that would like to hear you play. Perhaps it would break the ice?"
As the waiter stood, Doc gave a look towards Alessa as if to seek approval but then just smiled, "I can see where this is headed. Ma'am, if you will excuse me a moment or if you like, you can join me piano side."

He then made his way to the baby grand and sat on the bench. With a quick knuckle crack, he went right into an old song, both playing and singing.

Fascinated from this spontanious action and John's voice both were a very nice duo. It was a long time since Alessa had sung, but her voice was still a beauty for the ear. This date was far more surprising than she ever had expected any date or meeting before. "It must be a good sign" She just thought. Both noticing a small audience formed at the restaurant watching them with a smile on their faces.

No sooner did Doc finished when some regulars wanted Doc to "play hard." He only grinned as he got started with a solo.
He said nothing and just played: Root Beer Rag
Once finished, he waved to the crowd and then made a playful bow to his date before taking his seat.

"Now," he motioned to the piano, "I hope I wasn't too rude in livening up the place. I mean, I guess we can indeed mix business and pleasure, at least, a little." Drink were refilled as food arrived.
He waited for her to test her food before trying his own, "I do hope that it is to your liking?"
