So tell me, all you people that wish some awesome 10k cargo trains. Making one VIP to Kurile run that would make you spend 10mil to begin with to earn 40, how much should I as a pirate tax you? 15mil? 20? Can I ask for 30% of your goods? Trains with huge cargo hold would bring radical changes trough the game. Maybe positive, maybe negative, I don't have experience to tell. But those traders would certainly need escorts, and those escorts would certainly ask for plenty and to end it, profits would be the same.
The diamonds - nob run is fine, you just need more pirates on it. You'll see how would the trade frequency drop then. You can make 10mil every half an hour easily, just sitting on a hole and charging one mil or even half a mil every time trader passes.
Quote:an other problem with smuggling is that you dont really have acceptable contiuation routes which are supposed be "off-streat". all you can do is to take some cheap cr** to your next target, once you delivered the cardi/sm. and thats what IMO really hurts about smuggling =(
If one takes the jump hole route through kusari to omicron alpha (goes something like new york -> colorado -> galileo -> shikoku -> honshu -> tau something -> tau something -> omicron alpha), you can haul sidearms from detroit munitions in new york to malta and then cardamine back to rochester or manhattan.
The sidearms buy for like 120 a unit and sell for over 1000 each. It's possible to make like 7 million going to malta, and 9 million coming back - and you keep off the trade lanes.
Quote:oh come on man! it already feels like flying a bloody sponge sad.gif . wouldnt it be better to ... you know ... just weaken the shields of the big ones? so escorts would generaly become an obligation?
No, it wouldnt. Believe it or not, as a 'freelancer' / 'merc' of sorts - I DO occasionally have to use my firefly transport for combat.
Right now i've got the thing set up with MkVIII armor, advanced grav shields, and level 4 turrets... and it's still tough fighting in her.

Anyways, on the topic of 'escorts' - there's one main reason why most traders dont bother with them: ineffectiveness.
A pirate can still choose to attack the trader rather than the escort - out of spite - and will still usually be able to take down the transport before dying himself, if the escort is even capable of killing the pirate. On top of that, the trader is paying the escort per-trip when there's a high chance that you wont even be attacked by pirates - meaning money down the drain for what, a conversation partner?
Perhaps some rule should be put in that a pirate must attack escorts before transports if the escorts are present.
Don't you dare make a pirate victim here! It's not like there's many true pirates still out there.
Well that depends on what escorts are and what the pirate is "driving"
a) Adv train hiring two light fighters to escort - pirate flies a gunboat.
- Solution: Pay the SOB the money if you can't escape and you tried, or even better make the escorts pay it since they can't in any way aid you. Carry on with your trip, try to hire better escorts for the job.
b) Adv train hiring a fighter to escort - pirate flies a bomber.
- Solution: while your escort is ramming the damn bomber, you make sure your shields are up entire time of the fight. Cruise away asap and use those countermeasures nicely. If you fail again, make sure your escort pays the fee since he's the one that sucked again, unless he's dead.. o.O
c) Adv train hiring i don't care what - pirate is flying i'm bored of this text.
- Solution: make sure you agree on the good terms with the escorts and make sure they understand them. Also make sure that you can't kill them in your train because if you can they certainly ain't of use to you out there.
In any case, more pirates means more escorts hopefully.
guys are you serious? we don't have that balance for nothing! ever heard about the word inflation? no? then look it up please! 5k is already damn much! but 10k?! ...
please, its completely off-topic so if you want a 10k train then try to punch it though in an own thread and don't high-jack this one. thx.
10k cargo capacity?!?! That is totally unnecessary. It is easy enough to make multi millions as it is. Dont make it any easier, please.
As a corporate trader Ive limited myself to a large transport. 2000 cargo is enough to make a decent profit even after paying 100k to 300k for an escort. I get to RP interactions with others and I have a good time. What more could I ask for?
Sure I could make a lot more money with an Advanced Train, but what for? So I can buy a cap ship on my independent? I dont think so.
Even on my independent trader I never went larger than a transport.
I think 10k would be a bit too much..Ok WAY too much.
If it were ever to happen the ship would have to be EXTREMELY expensive,
like battleship expensive.
On the topic of trade vessels who would think that the Luxury Liner would suit an upgrade. Like make and Adv. Luxury Liner.lol I like luxury Liners, burn me if you must but I can dream

It's not. It won't ever be fine, due to everyone using the New Berlin jump hole to S-13 then going through Chugoku to Kusari. Lets face it even if all the Rheinland and Kusari pirates declared to go tax people in S-13, it still wouldn't be enough cause we can't be on 24/7. The route needs to be changed, ideally to a route to Liberty. This way it would give way for the Xenos, Rogues and possibly a Unioner faction to do stuff in Kepler and Hudson. And Sigma-13 would become less of a cesspool.
If a profitable H-Fuel route is added from Sigma-19 to Kusari, Liberty and Bretonia, it will still keep people trading in Kusari and possibly provide something to do for the Bretonians in Leeds. As of right now they are supposed to enforce an embargo on goods to the Taus but I don't really see it being enforced.
