Since Ageira invented it. :)

But I don't think they have it gameplay wise.

Its inRP of course, they don't have access to TLAGSnet

Let me correct my earlier statement. I proposed limiting the usage of tlagsnet to light fighters or to make the command be usable by a module, rather than the ID itself. But I do not think it is OP in its current form, though I will readily say that smuggling itself is just not worth the risk for the price you get. As opposed to mining or regular trading buffed comoditites. Smugglers not only face fines if captured, but they are - from a piracy point of view, the only ''traders'' who get ''pirated'' for cash in the form of a fine AND have their cargo removed as well. And unlike regular traders, they also need to deal with FR5s via a lot of reputation shenanigans after it comes through. Smuggling is not comparable to usual means of cargo running these days.

If that changed, the Tlagsnet command would not be seemingly bad in its present form.

Should the rules protect smugglers from being pirated for cash AND cargo then?
Or perhaps should smuggling profits be buffed?

So instead of nerfing TLAGSNET, we should nerf police roleplay as whole. Sounds about right.

You do understand that there is difference between pirate demands and lawful demands, right? Pirate can demand cash or cargo from any ship, regardless of amount or type of cargo, he can even demand money from empty ship. Lawfuls can demands fines and confiscate contraband only in case of very few commodities.

Not to mention that police roleplay is nerfed to unrealistic point already, you want to move it even further? Sure, that will definitely make players interested to play this role/ID.

Sidenote - smuggling FR5s happen only in Liberty because for some reason players there don´t understand they are killing their own activity source. I can´t remember any smuggling FR5 issued by Rheinland or Bretonian lawfuls for at least two years.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

Could we at the same time have some ruling restricting smugglers to tradelanes only?

I agree, its obviously to hard for pirates to find anyone, lets remove the jump holes while we're at it

I know it's a very specific case here, but would a Planetform ship be able to be pirated by the Gaians for cash and full cargo and not get sanctioned?

In general though, I agree that smuggling is not as profitable as it should be. I think bumping up profits to force more people into it might drive up activity by bringing more police-esque characters on the server to catch them.

As far as I'm aware that would be against the rules, pirates can't issue more than one demand at a time (which is a separate drama thread)

I cant tell how much of this thread is sarcasm and trolol.
Compare smuggling with prices before and you will see it already spiked up a buff.
Perhaps start smuggling again, guys. My faction even gives bonuses Smile (shamless plug)
