Thing is, the RP has become too similar. If you read on the story/bio, you will often find the same thing with differed words but with the same outcome. There is always the same happy beginning and tragic end. If not that you will find the low life person goes to lord of crime or whatever. Some people are not capable to RP something differed, you have to think about this, making a RP is like a writer writs a good book, or a actor acting very good. Look at movies with a actor that plays the same role in every movie, like Jason Statham and an actor that has many roles under his belt, like Leonardo DiCaprio. Statham will never be able to cover such a wide range of different characters, where DiCaprio does with ease.
Is the same here, people can only do one generic RP and even then, they might not be able to do it properly. Writing a good RP is harder than what it seems.
Even the houses RP is almost the same if you look at it. But then again, could be just me.
You know, I remember we used to have a time here on Discovery Freelancer Roleplay Community, where people actually took pride in their roleplay skills. Where a person could post some random sirius wide transmission and people would jump at the chance to involve their own personal RP characters in it.
Over the last few years I have seen not the roleplay per-se, but rather the attitude towards roleplay deteriorate to a point where I myself do not know if I should bother or if anyone else bothers for that matter.
Every roleplay encounter I get on the server that involves some of our more longer-standing people, tagged or not, official faction or not, seems to devolve into the other party trying to squeeze in as many meme and ''lol funny'' online-culture references as they can. So why do we even bother trying to advertise the community as a roleplay one, when even the people that seem to be the most invested in it are doing this crap?
Some time half a year ago it was the staff decision that we try to improve the overall roleplay quality of the ingame and forums, but it seems that idea has lost its steam. This thread is nothing more to remind people that their attention on the problem is slipping. Ignore the current drama and ask yourself if the overall attitude we have towards roleplay quality in general is worth preserving as this community. I like dank meimeis like the next person, but how about we keep it on 9gag and off the forums and ingame. Otherwise this drama is making it really hard to sympathize with the project that is Discovery Freelancer, when any attempts to rekindle the flame and bring back people to our forums and server is them walking in, looking around, shaking their head and leaving again.
I think the administration team in par with the community should start hosting the Top 10 best Roleplays award, I think @mwerte was responsible for that idea last time. Take pride in your effort. If you won't, who will?
Basically,what he said.
But i think it's a few years to late.
And maybe that should be moderators job,to read and propose,

that only applies for noobs and people who cant write well.
Edit: all ot takes is to think outside the box, think like the character, and not be afraid of what you write down (to a certain extent ofc)

We actually have a lot of dark/melancholic characters, that's true. However, I wouldn't generalize it like he did. Once you have a bit more ingame contact to certain people, you get in touch with their stories and see the difference. I think, for example, Sapphire Raven's bipolar behavior is very well done, as it is authentic presented like a real bipolar person.
However, this is Freelancer Discovery, entire Sirius is a dystopia with people tending to very extremized behavior. Of course things get dark here, since people shoot each other for insults or trespassing areas with the wrong ID or ship class.

Sorry, but it's a pvp game, as somebody rightly stated. If you're riding unsafely, be prepared to face the consequences.
What comes to the whole topic, I have 2 things to say: first, how would you rate the stories, how would you compare them? How would a non-native English speaker stand a chance versus a native speaker? Are there people who actually spend lots of time reading and rating various stories?
And the second thing being, before daydreaming of such things, make sure you have someone to actually participate. I of course mean the current activity issues. The idea isn't bad, but оldfаgs are not interested to come back. Server's not going to be 255/255 ever again
Dude. There is a huge swathe of ingame and forum roleplayers around here. I always find good Rp every time I log ingame, every time, any time. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong.
THE SYNDIC LEAGUES

spazzy has always been saying there are few RPers out there and dumbing it down to a select few.
Meh w.e ignore it and just continue on with your rp. Spazzy does have a point that some people could not take RP seriously, but let's not generalize.
