i see all this nice text but no mention of omegas. as someone said, they're mine filled corsair filled hessian filled spaces. traders going trough should really be better rewarded.
The price of artifacts at Leon should be reduced, and increased in Bretonnia and Kusari. This will spice up the omegas and sigmas a bit...
The price of... Light arms, Pharmacuticals and other similar commodities should be increased in the Omegas, as they need those vital supplies in the harsh environment.
Thats actually enough. Perhaps people don't realize that:
a) Kurile buys VIP for 10k each, they are sold at cambridge rather cheap
b) Luxury liner Hawaii buys the lux food at high prices. You can fill your cargo full of it at Cambridge for less than 1k
c) Pharma and food rations are much required at omegas and omicron corsair bases. Corsair pirates will not harm you and might even offer you escort to their bases where you can sell the pharma. Profit is reduced, but good roleplay, good relations and safe profit is ensured.
d) Cambridge needs those engine components and you can haul them trough omegas for great profit
e) All those routes from omegas and omicrons ending back to cambridge have one thing in common - alien organisms. They are cheep and they sell great. And cambridge res station is right next to the planet.
f) there are even better routes, or even longer routes that actually pay off, and don't forget - artifacts are cheapest at omegas and crete - and corsairs don't tax artifact smugglers.
Well, divide 5k profit by 5, then you only get 1k profit per unit. That's pretty crappy for all the power traders, hence the Sigma-13 / Boron Beryllium spam we currently have.
Luxury Liners need to pay more for the food. It is perishable, after all.
Pharmacuticals and Food rations should sell for tons on omega and omicron bases. I'm talking, over 1000 for distant omega bases and stuff.
While your offer of protection is nice, the majority of independent corsairs I see just say "2 mil or i shoot". No matter what cargo you are carrying.
uhhhm no actually they wont. OPG pirates and few other indie corsairs. If we heard that someone actually pirated a ship carrying pharmaceutics to Crete we'ld make him trade in whatever ship he has from whatever base he can find until he brings equal amount of pharma that he destroyed.
While some things aren't controlled, other things like those, and like major ban of passengers, vip or any other human trade are strictly controlled.
Kuraine, I like many of your ideas but please dont kill the Lux Foods price on Stuttgart. It is one of the few places where we Synth Foods corporate lackeys (as Wesley Richter once called me ;) ) can pick up Lux foods and run up to Kusari, Sigma 19, or even Liberty and make a profit on it. We have few enough routes to RP that make any money, and that one is about the only reason youll see Synth Foods ships in Rheinland space.
Also with the lack of Lux foods coming from Bretonia due to the war, the price should be rising in Kusari systems.
Overall Id like to see food prices lowest where it is grown (with adjustments for local economy) and higher as you get further from the source.
Also, I think its a good idea for H-fuel to go up in price in Bretonia to reflect the lack of supply due to the war.
Then again Im more about RP reasons for carrying cargo. I may be one of the few who have actually carried a full load of 2000 Food Rations on my large transport just to stay in character. :)
First, on 10k transports.. No. Simply, no. The current Adv. Train should be slower than it is right now even.. 10k cargo ships would seriously unbalance the game, and we don't need any more unbalances right now..
However I do like the unique trade ships idea.. Bretonia, Liberty, Rheinland, Kusari, and Zoners (for civilian) should all have 4,000-5,000 cargo ships of their own. Adv. Train would be civilian built by zoners. Kusari Transport (or whatever its called, not at home to check atm) is fine as is, except should need 4,200 cargo (if it doesn't already have such). Bretonia uses slower, but bigger ships, so they should have a 5,000 cargo transport that is big, and very very slow.. Easier to pirate, but it has high armor. Liberty should have a balanced transport. Mammoth could be remade a bit bigger with 4,500 cargo and less maneuverability. Rheinland would have one similar to Bretonia's, except with more firepower instead of armor.. So around Liberty's transport armor with 10 level 7 turrets. It would move a bit faster than the Bretonian one and have around 4,600 cargo. 400 less than Bretonias due to more space used for weaponry. Adv. Train would stay civilian, but the armor should be nerfed badly, very very badly.. And maneuverability decreased by a small bit. Zoner transport would be about the same as the Bretonian one, in keeping with Zoner's capital ship designs. High armor, firepower, and size with little agility. Except the transport should have minimal firepower. Basically identical to the Bretonian transport except in looks And it'd have 4,800 cargo.
I'll post again in here when I get home in a bit..
10 Lvl7 turrets! yikes, most transports have <7, except the Container Trans.
Also, all Houses have their own transports. Mammoth, Percheron, Behemoth, Bumblebee. They're all 2000-2500 capacity. If you wanted to go that route with House transports, bump the capacity up on all these, but maybe to 3500-4500. I still think the Adv Train should be the biggest in the galaxy, with the Whale and it's paper-thin armor second a couple hundred units lower, the CTrn, with 4600, then the house transports.
Corsairs and the OPG do NOT pirate those on humanitarian missions. I know this from personal experience. I have, however, come across some artard indie try and pirate me. I, in RP, calmly tell him if he wants to pirate me, his families will starve because I can't afford humanitarian missions all the time. Usually they let me pass. I jot down their name, and when I get to Gamma, mention it to the authorities there.
As for trade routes, there are LOTS of profitable routes into Bretonia, into Rheinland, etc. The problem is they take a tad longer for the power-traders (such a nice term for them). Liberty needs some tweaks, there shouldn't be ANY trade routes that max out there, it's the center of the galaxy, closest to everything. Hauling Niobium from Taus to Dresden should yield the highest profit, it's the longest route. Problem because all these blasted jumpholes and empty 'guard' systems that people use.
Now granted, I take jumpholes when I run Deut and Plutonium, but it's a good 15m trip one way, so I don't see a problem with that. I'd like to see Dusty through his weight around in this thread at what he's come up with.
Or maybe the passengers should be paying to leave Omicron Gamma and escape the crushing poverty and starvation? Fleeing to Liberty and other areas. reverse the trade route, perhaps.
