Official Notice - Development Team Strike

The men and women of the Discovery Freelancer development team have observed the recent actions of the server’s administration and cannot in good conscience continue work on the mod at this time. We find the recent matters regarding both the bans of Impy, Karst, Lythrilux, Mephistoles, Snoopy, and Swifty as well as the administration’s attitude towards any dissent on the subject deeply concerning. In addition, we find transparency and justification for the bans to be lacking. We do not find the canned and pre-prepared statements given by the administration to be sufficient in justifying their decision. Finally, we find the administration’s response of “If you don’t like us, leave” to be damaging to the game environment that we in the development team attempt to cultivate.

Before we can resume work on the mod we demand that the following terms be met.

1.) The Administration shall make available in full all forum and skype discussion which led to the decision to ban the aforementioned individuals.

2.) The Administration shall concede to any further terms laid out after the discourse and evidence requested above is reviewed by the development team, should we deem more terms necessary to continue work on the mod.

3.) This thread will not be moderated to an unreasonable extent, locked, removed, or made invisible.

Until the Administration meets our terms in full, the Discovery Freelancer development team shall officially remain on strike and no work shall be conducted. These terms are non-negotiable. Should Discovery’s administration choose not to acknowledge the above terms, you can consider our positions as developers to be null and void.

That's all well and good, but what happened to Neo-Terra. As I recall, you were the same person who wanted my revamped reputation system but didn't want to credit me for it. So your words on transparency are meaningless.

Oh lords of the server, you green gods who protect us from harmful server gameplay, please hear my prayer. I humbly beseach you to accept this annoying soul @Psyentific as a replacement for one of the six that you recently cast down into the Land of the Banned. If you look deeply into his soul (posting history) you will find that he is a worthless sort who circles above like a vulture eagerly waiting for the server to die, so he can crow and gloat atop its corpse. Indeed, he has started already. Clearly, those recently banned could not be worse than this blight on the forums. If, however, your lust for souls is insatiable, I'd be perfectly okay with you simply taking this one off our forums. His grave dancing is becoming a tiring act.

We have had thirty two pages to discuss this and out of the last five there has been absolutely nothing worthwhile. The drama has mostly subsided and we're not going to get anything more done until the Devs revise term 2 of the strike.

To be perfectly candid, the matter is up to the Admins, not the Devs. Dev demands have yet to be revised, true, but it really doesn't matter much what those demands might be. The Admins will/have decided what they will do and the only real questions left are will the admins make a future announcement, when will it occur and what will it be? Any discussions between Devs and Admins prior to potential announcement would best be made behind closed doors.
