OK, thanks for the info on Cruisers. It helped a lot.
I am almost able to afford my first battleship, a few questions>

1. Which is your favorite and why? I see the Osiris and Battlestars are popular on Mod discussions. (More turrets, more armor, better shields, harder to hit, etc.)

2. Do you find it hard to get around and does that stop you from using the battleship much? My Prison liner gets tuck in trade lane gates and bounces like pop-corn in a hot pan in some systems, can you even get a battleship thru these? (i.e. can I even fly a Battlestar out of Omicron Delta?)

3. Which do you think is the "best" (I want opinions here) as everyone has a reason they think one is better than another.

I know I am asking a lot of questions but I just started a few weeks ago and am having a great time. Lots of nice people and helpfull hints.

The "best" statistically is the Osiris.... But I fly the Bret BS, which is quite a bit larger with only 200k more armor, yet 500k less energy... I just didn't one to be another of the exploiters who use the smallest BS in the game, that also happens to have the most energy and still top of the line armor....

Personally I think it depends on what you want to do and where you want to go with your BS.

If you want to go through alot of asteroid fields then the osiris or liberty dreadnought would be a good idea because of their shape.

If you want to cruise through open space more then either of the battlestars, the kusari, the britonian, the nomad or the rhienland would be good.

These ships don't do as well in asteroid fields either because of their size, the rhienland one for instance is the biggest, or because of their shape, the kusari and nomad ones have points projecting out that will catch on rocks and stuff and spin you everywhere.

Then of course you could just go for the one that you like the look of most...

Actually, Nomad *IS* the biggest... Personally, I think it should have a the LARGEST generator and *LARGEST* armor(not by much, though...) because of its sheer size... And pointy things....

I actually think the Liberty Dreadnought is the coolest looking, it reminds me of a German U-boat in the old WWII movies. (but I have never seen an Osiris or Battlestar. Send me a shout if I am on and will look at yours.)
Can the Nomad battleship equip a shield? They never have shields when I encounter any Nomad ships.

Bret. BS. It looks sick and has pretty good stats. Its great for fighting against npc pilots, but for pvp, i definitely choose the Osiris. Nice turrets, nrg. and it is relatively small in comparison to others.

KU is just too big and the RH... never liked the faction or the BS.

What a dissapointment!
I have flown many fighters, almost all the trader ships (including oddballs like Asteroid miner), 2 bombers and all of the cruisers. (Sorry Jamez, I have not tried a GB yet!)

I bought a Britonian BS and I think I could do much more damage in a cruiser. The energy drains like mad and I am using the same load-out on my cruisers....Chain gun Solaris for fighting off fighters, Corsair BS turrets for fighters/gunboat/cruisers and Nomad turrets for cap ships. I am not even using any of the big energy draining weapons like Battlerazor, Inferno cannon or Mortars. I spin like crazy and have more than once spun into a planet and lost all my cargo when "bumped" by a small fighter. My cruisers never spun unless hit by a missle.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I try a different weapon lay-out for better damage? Would a diiferent BS spin less or work better? If not, I may give Gunboats a try with this char.

Well the reason BS's power drains so fast even with the larger reactor it that BS power regen is way to slow.

Kiggles :(

I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus
