And an unqualified person with the right attitude would be just incompetent. That's why despite having plans and concepts in my mind for various models and system designs, I don't apply for any dev work.

Debating the relative importance of attitude to qualification is pointless as both the right attitude and proper qualification is required for a dev to be a good dev.

Let's not even talk about how subjective the "right attitude" is...

True. But you gotta remember.. the required skill can be learnt with the right attitude, skills without the right attitude can be the mod's downfall.

You need dedication, time and a positive attitude. If you are not mentally challenged - you can learn almost everything else very quickly ... except for coding.

Talking of coding, what is Freelancer / Discovery coded in?

C++98. FLHook was ported to VC14 but it's still very unforgivable and limited unless you have a solid background in reverse engineering.

My dreams are crushed. I would have liked a combo of C# and Java for code...but I guess C++ will do.

The relevant members of the development team have reconvened following the administration's recent announcement regarding the punished members and have come to the following conclusion:

The evidence, where it exists, has been provided to the affected players, and where it does not, its nonexistence has been made clear. There is nothing further for us to (realistically) demand, and, in the interests of the community's wellbeing, the strike is lifted. In addition, while not all of us believe the remaining bans or probations to be warranted we do find it to be a step in the right direction, and we appreciate the administration putting in the time to come to any sort of consensus to revise what we believe to have been an initially far more harmful decision.

Finally, we strongly implore - not demand - that the administration reinstate and follow due process of the old rule 1.0 as outlined here by @Garrett Jax

As of this post, the strike is officially lifted and all involved intend to continue work on Discovery Freelancer. We look forward to a brighter future on a server where mistakes like these are hopefully not made again.

- The (formerly striking) members of the Discovery Freelancer development team.

Acknowledged. Privately I can say discussions about returning the 1.0 already happened, and that I welcome your decision. The dev and the admin team are the two pillars of the mod - when one crumbles, the other falls. It's fortunate we don't have to deal with the strike situation anymore.
