Jinx brings up a good point, though- it shouldn't be difficult to either point to the RP threads for each of their capital ships or write up new stuff, and would make for a show of good faith. I know that the 66th's two less conventional battleships have RP backgrounds mentioned in their faction status, and I've seen nothing but good from them whenever my travels take me to Malta.

I would go around pecking for the RP myself, but its my birthday today and I'll be off to lunch soon...

Happy birthday, Sovereign!:D

As Clayph and I mentioned before, there's no point in this thread anymore. It's being done. Treat it like taxes. You can moan and complain, but at the end, it's happening.

That may be but I highly doubt any independent will take the slightest bit of notice myself included it may force us to work together and maybe even make an opposing faction of sorts I can even possibly see an outcast civil war in the works depending on the fairness of this and how it's implemented.

Just throwing this out here I personally don't care enough to do it but obviously the idea has crossed my mind and I'm sure others as well I guess personally it depends on a lot of factors like who it effects if they feel it's unfair etc.

I'll give it the benifit of the doubt for now and see how it is implemented first sign of outcast on outcast fire though and I'm likely on the Independents side regardless.

I think the real issue though is the whole thing is meaningless anyway you can write whatever laws you like in the forums but the fact is noone has to follow anything but the server rules and the kind of player who creates the problems your trying to deal with will more than likely never come here and when questioned about his ship in game see it as someone being a jerk.

When I first started on this server as an example I created a Pirate character and bought a spatial when someone told me I couldn't fly my new ship I didnt take it well at all and put it down to some one being a jerk and opened fire to me it looked like the perfect pirate ship with it's sail etc.

Well if nothing else, I hope my ID proposals get implemented. It won't stop people buying cap-ships, but it will make it harder. Existing capital ships will have to get a Guard ID also.

Quote:I think the Drax has sufficient RP. See, people? How hard was that? He's able to outline that, and back it up with an old faction that dissolved. I know that's not the norm here, but still, you can tell it's good RP.

Heh thanks, Zapp & Sovereign. I don't mind adding more to the Drax RP if necessary, but eh. Nevertheless, as I said before, I would think that if you are going to have Outcast ships as authorised only by the Outcasts (which is a good thing), then it would be a good idea to create a list somewhere of authorised ships for people to keep track of.

ok, here's one of the RoS's BSs RP. Does it need to be this extensive? No, IMO, it isn't really needed at all as long as the ship RPs ingame. But I was bored and thought that a playerfaction needed to do a bit more then the average player.

BTW, Eppy, could you give me a link to Fantasia's background story? I need something to read at work...

File Name: The Road to becoming Captain

Zacarias Friedan was born on Ruiz base. He was born to the Commodore of Ruiz (his father) and one of the Ruiz Defense Force fighter pilots. Such a relationship between officers and non-officers was, of course, against regulations so as soon as his mother found out she was pregnant she resigned from the Fleet in hopes of saving the Commodore's career. Though she was no longer a combat pilot she stayed on Ruiz and worked in a merchant's shop there to support herself and her son.

After Zacarias grew up in this military family until he was 19 when he enrolled in the Officers Training School of Malta. His parents were proud of his choice, except instead of Fighter Squad Command or the Army Officer's, he chose the Fleet Officer Corp. Both the Army and the Fighter Corps despised the Capital ships and their “god-ego” captains. But Zacarias was determined because he loved the big ships. When he was younger he would sit and watch videos of them for hours on end.

So he left Ruiz, bidding his parents goodbye, and headed for Malta.

Four Years Later

“Hard to starboard, hard to starboard!!” The Captain of Requiem shouted. Zacaria assigned to a group of 3 Destroyers, as Chief Comm Officer of Requiem, the lead ship of the task force. The task force was stationed in Beta to defend Ruiz Base. A Bounty Hunter Battleship had entered Beta to hunt for an Outcast fighter pilot who had pissed off a Universal Shipping head honcho. It was the task force's job to make sure he didn't succeed. The battleship's shields were falling, but it was still pouring firepower into Requiem, who's shields had fallen and was sustaining hull damage.

“Hit them with the full power of our guns!!” Yelled Captain Hombries, commanding officer of Requiem

“Get Merciless and Terror behind that monstrosity to disable her engines, we don't want the cowards running.” Snarled Vice Admiral Tirfo, who was in charge of the whole task force.

Around the battleship Saber and Manta fighters were engaged in a broiling battle for supremacy. Whichever side won would be able to launch bombers who could turn the tide of the battle for the bounty hunters, or secure victory for the Outcasts.

KaBOOOM!! An explosion on the third deck made Requiem shudder and lose power momentarily. The enemy gunners had just scored a solid hit on the Outcast ship.

“Veer us about, loose the enemy in the rocks till our shields are restored!” ordered Captain Hombries.

But the bounty hunters would not give up and chased after Requiem scoring hit after hit. Stupidly the bounty hunter captain left his friends in Mantas behind, and without the suppressive fire of the battleship keeping the Outcasts distracted the Mantas started to fall quickly.

A missile streaked in and detonated against the hull right near the bridge of Requiem. Everyone was tossed out of their seats and poor Captain Hombries was instantly decapitated by a flying metal beam. The second in command was sucked out the hole that was opened in the ship's hull before the force fields could close the hole and Vice Admiral Tirfo was tossed by the explosion against the wall and slid down unconscious. And just like that, Chief Comm Officer Friedan was in charge of Requiem.

This fact took a moment to sink in as the crew called for medics and got back to their stations. “Oh ****” were the only words he could muster.

Something inside him shattered under the pressure, but the rest of him started snapping orders and working furiously to save the ship.

“Bring us about, head toward Ruiz, this idiot seems intent on following us so let's lead them into our guns there.

Inform Captain Donovian of Merciless that he's in charge of the task force. Let Ruiz know we are coming and” he checked rear scanners “that the bounty hunter battleship is without its fighter escort.”

“Aye Sir!” The new comm officer replied.

“Ok brothers, lets keep this ship alive.

Engineering, I need all the power you can muster, first priority is the shields, second is engines and third is guns.

Comm, let Merciless and Terror know what we are doing.

Repair crews get up here now.

Helm, keep us away from those rocks, we're over our Damage Taken quota already today.

However...Guns we are NOT over our Damage Given quota today, correct that problem ASAP. Keep firing at that battleship, aim for the bridge, that should make em flinch.

Helm, try to shield Ruiz from their sight, we don't want them to catch wind of our plan do we?”

“Aye Sir!”'s rang out around the bridge.

Requiem moved at full speed toward Ruiz. The enemy was right behind them the entire way taking off chunks of her hull. They weren't going to make it...they weren't going to make it...they weren't going to make it... the ship shuddered under another barrage as the bounty hunters smelled victory. One more salvo and the bounty hunters would fracture Requiem's hull. Then it could turn and engage the other 2 destroyers...a battleship vs 2 destroyers is no contest, even a battleship as battered as theirs was sure to win. The gunners lined up their shot...

and bolts of laser power streaked toward Requiem. She dived and the shots passed over them and splashed harmlessly into Ruiz's shield. Ruiz's return fire wasn't so kind to the battleship. As the bounty hunters turned to try and run Ruiz turned whole sections of their ship into molten metal. And now the finisher, 2 squads of bombers streaked in from either side of the battleship and unleashed their antimatter cannons into the battleship's hull. Catastrophic hull failure began to occur and escape pods began to jettison from the doomed ship. The few remaining Mantas managed to grab a few pods as they fled but Ruiz picked up more. Bad times awaited those bounty hunters.

Merciless and Terror opened up yet again on the battleship, rupturing its Reactor Core turning the whole ship into a molten fireball. Victory!!

Aboard Requiem every alarm that could go off was doing so. Hull breaches, reactor failure, life support failure, oxygen leaking out the hull, losing power...all the alarms you REALLY don't want to hear.

“Ruiz this is Requiem we need to make full power to Corsica for repairs. Thank you for the assist.” Transmitted Zacarias to his father.

“Anytime Requiem. And son...good job.”

After the repairs were completed a reward ceremony was held aboard Ruiz to commemorate the victory. And to give Zacaria his first command, Requiem was his.

For the next year and a half Requiem, Merciless, and Terror patrolled Beta, keeping it safe. Requiem remained the task force flagship, and Captain Friedan proved to be an outstanding commander. Maybe it was all that experience he had from his father running the base. Or maybe it was from watching his mother manage the store. Whatever it was he was an extremely efficient commander. However his personal life had troubles, he was very curt and direct with people which left him with no friends aboard the ship. He was both a micro-manager and a perfectionist, great qualities to have in a Destroyer Commander, but poor qualities in a friend.

They were then rotated to the far side of Eta, on the other side of the minefield, to protect and give advance warning to the rest of the fleet.

During that time the battle group received a Red Hessian Cruiser and command was transferred to that ship, the Malice. They defended Eta with spectacular results. 17 Cruisers , 9 Dreadnoughts, 1 Osiris, and hundreds of gunboats/fighters/bombers all fell to the Outcast's guns. And that's not including any ships that were killed while working with other task forces or ships.

At the end of that tour of duty Zacaria was recruited by the RoS Archon to command their new flagship; PuppetMaster. PuppetMaster was one of the first new Outcast Battleships ever put into combat. It was originally given to the leader of the [LR]; Valdar under the name Graviton. This ship was returned to the Outcasts after the Rouges requisitioned a new ship better suited for their tactics. Now with the RoS Zacaria would see more combat than ever before. Now the Corsairs would see more destruction then ever before, because no longer was Zacaria purely on the defensive, Puppet Master was under orders to be ready to assist in assaults against Corsair bases...including the spawn of evil itself; Crete.

I don't have a link, but I can tell you that the entire story is like the first post of my Giustizia RP (another example of cap-ship RP).

You're wrong, as is everyone else who says this is anti-independents.

well with that kind of history, you should be able to understand whats going on.

example: say Opra wanted to buy a M1A1 tank, she obviously has the money, and she worked for that money. so buy your logic the the army should just let her have one.

the point is, this is as RP server, if you want a battleship, you have to earn it, just like if opra wanted a tank she would have to earn it too.
just because you dont feel like Rping, doesnt mean your exempt from the rules that a layed down. if decide not to RP the other players will just RP that youre some mentally challenged person that some gow got a hold of a ship, and certainly shouldnt pilot a capital ship

I don't really see a capship problem but I'm on at a guess bad times or maybe in the wrong systems. Personally I think most new players just want to try the different ships out before they settle back down to something smaller and from what I observe there ussually is some attempt made at RP even if it's a simple Hail.

I'm now silient on the matter I've expressed my views I actually have no problem with it If it is against only people who make no attempt to RP whatsover I'm not totally convinced that is what its about though.

Actually, it *is* against people who don't make an attempt to RP. If they at least try, they are nurtured. If not, they are killed. It matters not whether or not they are in a faction, although to get a capital ship in these factions requires significant RP.

As far as trying different ships, you are right. Most people test them, then realize they suck. Unfortunately, they spend 2 months power trading, and don't want to give it up... Open SP exists for a reason...
