Discovery started going downhill the day after custom user titles were removed. Coincidence? I think not.

The faction leader group with dark blue names was created specifically for this (and also for better visibility), with the hopeful thought it would entice FLs to care a little more about their faction. Oh boy how wrong were we.

As for titles, it used to be a thing in the past. The community was also much more reasonable back then. I'm doubtful the same trust can be extended these days without having a flood of top memes. Mind you, for the very short amount of time FLs were allowed to set their title themselves, we already had a quarter of them using memes instead of their faction name.

Lacking any faith in the community is part of the problem with this community lmao

I don't see the harm in giving myself the title "melon lord" or someone else making one like "sabre king"

But what's the issue with memes? I can understand if you're a faction leader, but in the Golden Era™ it was nothing but memes as titles and everything was fine. Hell Schlurbi was a Dildo Pilot for god knows how long and it was never a problem

There would obviously have to be a announcement in place for that so people knew not to screw around. Though personally I don't see the large issue with meme names, what's the harm in a joke? I mean, unless it's everywhere, and everyone has a meme name, why discourage it? The main accounts of players should not be restricted to such 'businesslike' conditions. Maybe if people make alternate accounts for their characters so they can post with serious titles on them, that could balance out?

Then perhaps this community should have some of the lightheartedness it had back then? Judging by the many people I look at in this community, there's a drought of happiness in various places. For a lot of people, this place is a place to relax, to have fun, and to joke around. They don't see this as a place that should be so formal in that degree of limiting user titles. For people of high responsibility, of course, I can see the limits on titles, but not for the average member.

Unfortunately, the average member does not have above one thousand posts. Perhaps a five hundred post limit would work easier on the stomachs of the many members here.

I have a conflicted view towards the whole CUT ordeal in general, as I see both sides of the coin in the argument. Or at least in my head I see such.
