Do you consider blue-messages within the system as something you receive inRP still while you are not at the place where it happened? Just had a situation where two people picked up a blue message from something happening somewhere else in the system and they were acting like the guy that got shot sent a distress signal, and they knew who the guy was who attacked the victim. To be honest, I find that rather metagame-ish, but whats the consent about this kind of scenario?

My self have no problem when they use the chat as sort of scanner, hek i do it my self. in every char and type.

It is usefull to know where wich pirate is to avoid it as trader or search it and hunt it as police or navy/military.

As pirate it is an handy tool to see when to get ready on the buttons because someone entered the system.

Back in like 4.85 with server count 200 and more wanting to get in i would not use it and disaprove but these days it is rare to see one unless it is in lolberty or conn , thanks to the events it is sort of changing and creating posibilitys but still i rarely encounterd an living and speaking soul last night when i did an all nighter ...

I'm not talking about the player list or searching for interaction. I'm talking about acting like the blue messages are inRP while they are pretty much just an indicator by the game itself to show someone died and what caused it. I prefer to only notice things that I have in my sensor range or get told by another party and not making up things like distress calls that the victim never actively sent out. That's why I'm asking about the consent on this.

I've allways considered the blue message as an ooRP information, except maybe when you claim a bounty. I tend to ignore a blue message in the system, however if for example i'm flying my gaian and i blow up an armed forces, i have no problem with a second armed forces knowing about it as long as it was agreed by both of them.

The way I personally take it it's a 50-50 thing.
I can acknowledge it, after all an explosion of a ship does in fact give off some specific readings.
However knowing who died or who killed him would be going too far in my opinion.
The only thing you might be able to tell would be the ship size, given the strength or chainreaction of the explosions, but that's about it

House police or House military could get sensor data of a ship blowing up in the system. That could be RP´d out easy enough, but for anyone else it would probably fall into the ooRP category, unless they have someway of explaining how they got the destruction message. Like they are of the same faction or had direct radio contact or something like that.

I consider blues to be my sensors picking up the EM pulse from a reactor cooking off. And where theres a reactor blowing up, theres salvage. So it only makes sense for Junkers to try and figure out the origin of the explosion, however the names in that message are irrelevant/unknown* to me. Its just the pulse acting like a beacon - finding the location is another thing.

*Junkers are neutral. We salvage everyone equally. Except for Xenos or Hogosha. Those we salvage gleefully.

you can use "/set diemsg" for avoid those deaths spam hehe, personally i use "/set diemsg system" so it will show them to me only when that occurs in my current system. Then you can use it as RPing EMP residual radiation alert or whatever.

But the fact is by default, it show all deaths around sirius, giving a easy hint to others around where is the action and so on... this would be considered involuntary metagaming. Maybe limit it to system by default would be better... just my opinion.

Good flights!!

I treat it as a distress signal from an unknown source and location. Essentially i know someone got blown up but i dont know who or where or by who/how
