Footnote: This Roleplay is based around the Proteus Tome, my personal charature and others who are involved with the story. Those that I've spoken to have already been informed of what is going on and what might happen. A remind to all, this is an open end story with no preplanned ending. -Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it's called the Present
Fate...its a strange thing to most, many don't understand its function, why it exists or why no matter what you do, you can't escape it.
The sound of a room being shook is heard, followed by crashing, blinding pain then darkness...is this all just a repeating wheel that I have to suffer for the gods amusement? Have I not endured enough pain as it is? I guess I should not really question what fate they have given me now, as its to late to look back.
A gasp fills a open room, black tiles cover the walls around as a red haired Kusarian emerges from the pool of water beneath the cold tiled floor surrounding it. Yuki...A feeling of loss and coldness filled her body as she remained still in the water, slowly looking down to see the many scars that covered her body, from the battle scars, to her injuries and work related ones, she could only imagine how she actually looked to all those around her with such wounds that would never heal even with time.
Yuki sighed as she dropped to the water level once more, only her eyes exposed above the crest of the waves of the moon pool itself. She remembered all that happened to her..when Golanski came to save her life, as did his sister several times before..when he stopped Emissary from stealing the Tome from her, and even when exiled, he still watched out for her. Her next train of thoughs hurt of anguish and loss. She though of her loved ones...Natsumi, Yoko...her sisters who were always there but no longer could she defend them, far, far away from them in space. Jeremy and Ellie...they brought her in by force. She knew the Order cared for her and were mostly forging a false death and scene for those that wanted the Tome...and wanted her.
Closing her eyes, Yuki leaned back on the waves of the water, floating there as she stared up at the black tiled ceiling, seeing the small grainy marks left in the dark limestone to be as distant stars...she recalled home, how her parents were killed with no warning. How her family was torn apart at that moment..Natsumi and Yoko were hurt and hidden away so no one could find them...her older sibling, Kohaku was there, at her side...a powerful Blood Dragon warrior..the shogun even...
The memory pushed on...the Kusari civil war..she recalled her brothers orders to lead the troops with the Niwa twins and the main army in an massive invasion on Nagano...what happened next, caused Yuki to only hold her head in pain...recalling as the Naval force battleship Yamato and the secondary fleet naval warship took down the Mount Fuji...she recalled the fire..the bangs and explosions echoing around her as the reactors exploded like blooming flowers...the hull of the Togo buckled as it went black..she crashed yet survived...barely...Yuki recalled all of the pain during the fall and battle...
Sighing, she rolled over and stood on the white tile pool flooring and began to leave the water, the only lights coming from the pool floor itself. What happened next? That's right..the Sister's..Emissary came after her, forging a fake Proteus tome and ran away with it...Golanski sent her into exile, hidden away...Geoff of Rheinland...John, a Freelancer...even Sapphire Raven knew she had it but could not reach the real one...
Running through Sirius for two years..growing up, going to collage under a fake name made by her new adopted mother, Rin Hunter..and her lover, Rika Hunter. Yuki slowly began to dry her body off with the towels located around the edges of the pool...her hands slowly trailing down the scars on her upper body with a frown...Kelly Hellion, another Order commander who attempted to kill her, mistaking her for someone else...poison and sick...Yuki recalled only the pain that lasted...and how she was alive...She looked down at her arm to see a silver chained purple gem stone with a very faded glow. How the nomads kept her alive...
Another weak sigh escaped, finally finishing with drying her body off, she slipped on light underclothing and then slipped a special gown over her body soon after, slowly walking out of the door...she looked around the even darker next room, noting the dark beeping machines that surrounded the entire room from wall to wall, however in the center of the room was a medical bed with doctor's tools and advanced surgical tools around it as well. Under her feet were fishnet wired metal bars and under it were the rooms massive aggressive snake pit of wires and pipes.
Sighing. Yuki looked towards the door on the other end of the room. Slowly moving and sitting on the beach near the bed, sitting down as she waited for two people to come in so she could begin the second phase of removing this cursed fate...and hopefully, begging to those above, to begin a new journey later in life...
People she meant to meet were inbound, but still she had time to process every detail that had lead up her to this very moment. Of all, the best and among most valuable was shard of memory… one of most recent of her relinquishing one of the last tokens of her past she so much desired to be gone forever. Yuki profoundly remembered everything with near photogenic detail arising doubts that what she had requested will take an effect on her mind.
Brought to quarters of the Admiral Golanski, the ‘Guardian’ held the secure tube-like case close, her fingers clutching it strong as she neared the only person she knew that could take away the curse from her very person. In her hands was reason she had been chased after by agents of the Nomads, life she so desired to leave behind and go just about anywhere where hands of the enemy would not reach her even in thousand years. She stayed loyal, taking on the task willingly carrying burden for far longer than most would do. The Overwatch chose wisely in this regard.
That moment she recalled very vividly. Her grip on Proteus Tome loosened, she rushed forward with big, relieving sigh that her chest could produce as soon Grand Admiral permitted her to come forth. Placing the device at his desk, nervously yet decisively pressing button after button on the attached keypad she completed difficult sequence to unseal its content and hand it over to a new wielder… for good this time she had hoped.
"Good morning sir… I brought something for you.. the Sisters, and the Oracles have..once again tried to steal this from me… even going as far as to turn my own friends and family against me. Here, I believe this belongs to you..."
The man took the alien artifact from her hands with solemn duty on his face. He was her saviour, taking Emissary’s life with his own hands at time she became gravely advanced in her plot to take the Tome from her custody on Kyoto. Yuki refused to inquire about the details and the act was not something Golanski boasted around. She preferred to not know to what extends he had to go to keep her safe. He inquired her about the crystal embedded into her arm, the replacement for her immune system so damaged though her assigned mission. Yuki pleaded for her life, wanting to bide her time on Akabat under Jeremy Hunter, their common friend and also Admiral of The Order. Flashback was still livid. She did not understood at the time but something turned him awry, dissatisfied… he did not said why.
Waiting for people that would decide her fate quietly increased the anxiety. She could not tell how long she spent in this cold room… Her deprived senses sharpened, her hearing enhanced to listen in for anything of value, looking into something to sate her troubled mind. “This is not ethical. We are stealing her past.” She could hear the familiar voice finally arrive.
The eighteen year old red head's attention snapped forwards toward the door upon hearing the approaching of foot steps and voices getting closer.
She remembered the sanctuary offered by Jared Nomak, how he and his people offered a place to hide and be safe...she turned them down, she would not suddenly turn her back on her loved ones, her friends..the Order or Dragons.
As Ellie, Jeremy, Golanski and whoever else entered the room, Yuki would slowly stand and lay down on the medical bed, her head laid down on the padded cushion as two Order Science directors slowly took a needle and a IV bag and pressed it into her blood stream.
Everything was there before her...she could hear him, Golanski talking to Jeremy and Ellie...her aunt and uncle before she slowly fell more and more off the plane of awareness and fell asleep.
She recalled the day of her exile. Sitting by at Kyoto as Yuki, who had replaced her ill-fallen brother as the Shogun of the Blood Dragons, sitting with the Sisters from the GC, the Order leadership and their escort and the Bundschuh leadership...after the meeting and her okay to allow the meeting members to rest on the base...she recalled a vivid sirens call from outside the rocky rogue planetoid that was Kyoto.
Slowly getting into space, she could not help but notice the Outcast, Emissary there, perched on top of the base like a hawk waiting to strike its prey...and there at her side, were the Sister's of Light conversing with Emissary.
The goth-looking female turned to Yuki, who had no idea who Emissary was, and curiosity took hold of the young shogun at that time and she moved to speak with her...
Thankfully, the Grand admirals watchful eye was alerted and he took to space with his escort, just in time to stop Yuki as Emissary tried to lead her to Tohoku. In her dazzed and confused state, he ordered to bring Yuki back by force...
While at first the Dragons and Order had the upper hand, Yuki managed to defeat two fighter crafts and another Dragon gunship alone with her own crewed Hachiman gunship...however injured and limping away, the Order and Yuki's friends from the Sirens bell finally located her and brought her back..
This marked the moment when Yuki was no longer safe in the Dragons, taking the Tome into her arms as Golanski demanded, and she fled to Bretoina, hiding under the protecting of the armed forces on Cambridge and under her new name, Emiko Hunter.
She went to school, learned mining, manfuctoring, construction and even some medical skills while at school on Cambridge...yet even this sanctuary did not last long when she was located again, this time by Division nine and the Keepers themselves, forcing her to fleet to the edge worlds where she finally lost control of her new salvaged Council gunship and it stopped there...she called for help, and felt like it was days before the Order finally found her and brought her home to Akabat...
Since that time five months ago, Yuki had not left Omicron Mu or Epsilon, remaining under the care of the Order captain Rika Hunter and her family as she was trained by Aelita and the commanding forces of the Order in how to defend herself and how to fight...
Five months of intense training, including that with blade, gun, and spaceborne combat. Even going as far to be put through marine based combat which she managed to scrape by and pass as well...yet all good things come to an end when the Commune found her a few days ago, her cover broken..
She recalled talking to Golanski and Ellie, asking them to hide her entirely, and if needed, change her body surgically, and to give her a new name. She didn't know that her memory however would also be taken from her, and the only thing she would retain is her skills she learned from the Order trainers, those from her teaches on Cambridge, from her siblings in the Dragons, those that taught her on the Sirens bell and those skills the Bundschuh, Order and Dragon leaders taught her..
Before she blacked out, a weak sentence escaped her shaking body as she awaited her new life...she knew, deep in her heart and mind..that this was the last time she might get to see Golanski, Jeremy or Ellie...she knew she was going to be put into cryosleep deep under the earth of Akabat...for how long, she didn't know, only those in the Overwatch did.. as her eyes finally slide close..her words escaped her.
"Thank you for saving me...goodbye..."
And finally..her eyes slid close as she was prepped for her next path of life..
The bed shifted. Yuki's eyes would focus to see her sister, Natsumi. Her eldest sister gently kissed her bare shoulder, smiling as the artificial sun ceiling backlit her. Their lips met, marking the start of a new day. She could not remember what was said, but she could feel the happiness. As Natsumi left the bed to clean up, Yuki would see outside Madoka, currently doing his morning calisthenics. He was alone, and she understood how he probably felt. The sound of the bath soon stopped, full, and she slid out and padded in.
"Natnat?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you."
"We must take her past, Admiral, to save her future." Ellie Hunter's hands danced across the holoscreens before her, doing about three things at once. A few tubes of nanites began to shake, marking their activation. The Director of the Order Science Division wasn't looking at Golanski, even as the man bore into her with his hardened eyes, the ethics of what they were going to do weighing on them...but none more than Rika. She was in the corner, watching her adopted daughter lose everything about her so she could live. Iona had called and confirmed the plan on their end...but now, nothing mattered. All that mattered was she had to lose her daughter to save her, and Ellie was the one pulling the figurative trigger. The Doctor paused, and looked finally at Michal.
"The Order has done many things, many of them unethical...many of them dangerous. Michal, this is no longer about ethics but survival. We all know how Yuki can and will act. Removing her memories, placing trust in Iona's Pet Project...in my nanites..." She clenched, Ellie's hands forming fists. "We cannot risk the ides of ethics. If we do not do this here, and now...if we do not safeguard her for the future, there will be nothing. She ran away once, and if she chooses to run again, will she take the Tome? Rika? Will she steal an Osiris?!" Ellie turned away. "There are too many variables. For her sake...for ours...we must take away everything that made Yuki herself..."
She pressed a single button, and the nanites moved, starting to cover a mess of organs Ellie had laid out near them. "But for now...I must go through and repair any and all damage, and rebuild her immune system. Once that is done we can get rid of the artifact and hide her from even the Nomads." Fingers danced once more, directing her creations forward. Ellie said nothing more, as the cloud of nanites descended upon Yuki.
Jeremy Hunter, uncle and mutual friend, had arrived late. He had to prepare everything for his departure as usual, and with the mass of Crayterian forces moving to and fro, there was quite honestly a lot he had to worry about..,.but today, his worries were solely for his niece. He could already see how much the act she was about to do was tearing his sister apart, his twin...that bond of twins could be considered extraordinary, to the point of supernatural. He could feel the rage and sorrow at what she was going to do, but in the end...
The ends justify the means. History will remember atrocities...but at least there will be people left, free, to remember.
And that was okay.
He came to a stop next to Michal, adjusting his jacket. He looked rested, the quietness of Coronado much better than the insanity following his mother's kidnapping. He removed a hand from his pocket, rubbing his forehead. "The worst part about this is the fact I can't make anything better, Michal." He whispered. "I can turn Milly good, save my wife and manage to save an AI...but I have to watch my niece stuck in cryo."He growled. "What cruel irony this is. The Universe is said to not be a funny being, but it has black humor like you wouldn't believe." Jeremy shook his head. "Can't save everybody. I just wish I wasn't reminded that so often."
As they spoke around her and Ellie did her work, in her drugged sleeping state, Yuki recalled past memories of her loved ones...her family yet everything seemed so distant and hazy but slowly it came into view...
She remembered Kohaku, Natsumi and Yoko, her siblings that were always at her side till the bitter end..their over protective older brother, their aggressive shogun sister and her mysterious twin Yoko...
She would recall those from the Sirens Bell, Jessica, Tara, Ivy, Jack and Rachel, friends of theirs who also gave her a new heart and a reason to live..to turn the tides
Many people she had met in her life, yet as she laid there, slowly all of her memories were taken away..she'd remember her training, her school taught skills, yet everything faded into darkness..her friends and family, forgotten, who she was vanished, her name no longer hers...
From that moment on, Yuki Hideyoshi/Emiko Hunter was no longer alive...
